Very nice character house, excellent welcome from the owner, very nice and very spacious rooms, bathrooms and private toilets of perfect cleanliness, passage of a maid to make the bed and change the towels and clean the house.

I'm going to do it.

We have been on the way from Madrid to Porto and decided to make one stop over in the Portuguese Mountains because of our young daughter (6 month).
Casa do Brigadeiro was close to the highway and a real experience!
The complete hotel is a hommage to the good old times!
You really felt like in a former Portuguese manor house! One highlight definitely was the breakfast room with the pool billiard table.
The little village itself as a great inside in the Portuguese society „behind the tourism curtains“ - an piece of authentic Portugal rural life!
One advise: if you like it more quiet ask for one of the lovely room with garden view! The other side is facing to the street with may be a little louder.
A pitty that not more guests joined this experience.


Night in a Portuguese manor house

From the receptivity of the owner, through the restoration of the house, to the breakfast left for us was very good. Keeping the style of the time, it combined modernity today, with the end goal of resulting in a unique and pleasant space.

Good choice.

This hotel is a 175-year-old stone-built house that keeps the old look. Its rooms are simple. Those who seek comfort may be disappointed with this accommodation. The owners are very friendly. The breakfast was extremely simple, I don't know if it was because we were the only guests in the hotel.

Rural house

Old house, carefully restored, adding modern amenities but respecting the spirit of the place. Lovely service and nothing complicated.

Staying well

On arrival very well received by the friendly and helpful owner... Then we will discover the charms... stone walls, rustic decoration thought to the smallest detail, gives it to be welcoming, beautiful cellar :-D we go out to the yard and it is the total glamour!!! highly recommended!!!!

Magical place

The first time I sat on the bed, the platform broke - if it was because it was rotten. Small lunch as awful as you can imagine.

Very bad

On our way to Lisbon from San Sebastian, my husband and I decided to stay overnight at the do brigadeiro house. A really pleasant experience. We were greeted by the owner, an exquisite person, who after having led us around the structure, offered us a glass of port as a welcome toast. The house is furnished with antique furniture, rich in memorabilia reminiscent of the Portuguese colonial past.

A journey into the past.

A house full of (half) antiques, simple but lovingly furnished and maintained. Stone house with thick walls, hard to heat in cool weather, but certainly super cool in summer! Quiet location, wonderful garden with seating by the river. Very nice reception with first-class port, owner speaks English, his wife French. We were the only guests (April 12) so we had the whole house for ourselves.

A Journey into the Past

Staying at Casa di Brigadeiro was a unique experience. Owner Fernando Manuel de Almeida Pereira welcomed us warmly to his family home which he has lovingly restored and updated to make usable as lodging for travelers. On arrival, Fernando, a journalist born in Angola, offered us homemade cake, a glass of Port, and great conversation about the political and economic past and future of Portugal and its colonies. He prepared the enormous hearth in the common area for a blazing fire, which we made when we returned from a bite of dinner at a local restaurant. In the morning we enjoyed a Continental breakfast in the same room. Beds were comfortable, and baths were clean. On the second night the heat was off, and since our host had gone to a neighboring town and we were unable to get it on, it was cold, but it had been toasty the night before, so we're sure it was just an oversight. 

We recommend Casa Brigadeiro, just understand it's a rustic experience. We also, personally, would return, as we appreciated the hospitality and the convenient location to explore castles in the region.
