We didn't stay, but the dinner we had deserved this five-star review.Recommended by a foreigner, it was exactly what we were looking for.Family food, fresh meat, tender, and savory, a dish that melts the papillae of the most demanding.

Luxury kitchen, real food.

Very nice and cosy hotel. Big selection of meat is sold from own production, but since we were no meat eaters with us the selection in food was also bit limited. Anyway drinks and urgent needs can be bought at the reception which is important since the place is very remote. We did a trip to the Rondane nationalpark which is a wonderful part of Norway and if you want to be able to go to several places around then the hotel is a perfect spot to be central. The place was fully clean and the beds were totally ok as well. WIFI was struggling pretty often.

Our stay here was wonderful. A very old fashioned hotel that is full of character. Most of the food is home produced and therefore the quality is out of this world, fantastic good and excellent service.

The food was excellent !!!!! This hotel has their candles, pigs and lambs in the hills. They smoke themself.
When we had dinner and breakfast, it was the best we had in many years. It tasted fantastic ..just fantastic .
We will come here again...no doubt about that. So different from other hotels.
This vally have one of europes most spectacular drafting river just 15 m from the hotel.

This hotel have a quite place in the start of the mountain. A fantastic nature just outside. The rooms are clean.

Having driven from andalsnes we arrive at a lovely valley and pull up to hotel.

HOW WRONG CAN YOU BE

A family run hotel as its says in your room please bear with us as we are renovating the hotel new beds fresh paint but some comunal rooms a work in prgtress.
We were soon sat incomfortable chairs drink in hand watching olympics then a wonderful meal limited chuice as all ingredients local and freshly cooked. I had elk steak wow

If you are in the heidal valley call in excellent food lovely people and a hotel on the up. In 3 weeks in norway this was one of the highlights.

We were looking for a convenient and inexpensive accommodation with breakfast on the road between Aurland-Grong and E6. Functional hotel for overnight stays

Hotel Heidal is definitely  worth  the visit.  Great atmosphere, good food (gr8 breakfast), a friendly,  family run operation just 7 km out of the non-booming metropolitas of Heidal.  Thomas is very proud of his heritage and community (and rightly so).   Willing to share all that he knows, provide locale fare (fresh trout, moose meat, local jams & honey).  As in most of Europe, hotel rooms are VERY small, both the beds comfortable, clean and functional.   A very enjoyable experience and I encourage others to go.

We stayed only one night at this hotel, as it was our next destination, and resulted in a very pleasant stay. First of all, it is a very simple hotel, the rooms are small, the bathroom is small and has almost no service. However, considering the prices of the accommodation in Norway, it is more than a recommended hotel as you feel at home. The atmosphere is very familiar, the beds (though small) are comfortable and the breakfast very good with typical Norwegian products.
