We had a lovely moment in this hotel! The owners are incredibly friendly and we shared really good moments together.
They did a wonderfull job to open Giramondo, we were really happy with the room wich is really good and big, with fan, conforable beds and a clean bathroom.
The hotel is ideally located, just north Thamel so you can enjoy the touristic places without having all the noises from the bars and restaurants.

Since one month this place has a new owner and is called “hotel Giramondo”
The young owners couple is very friendly and interested in you as a person. As I came back sick from the mountains they where concerned with my health and offert me a free coffee in the morning (italian, since his wife is from Italy:)) and we had a nice conversation. The owner himself is a mountain guide and has travelled a lot around the world himself. The rooms are just fine! Clean and a good bed, hot shower and toillet both private, and a fan for cooling down. Just everything you need for a good price! 

Mount Fuji at 12,390 is Japan's highest peak by far and was so sacred that it was only climbed by priests and pilgrims. 

It's only open for climbing in July and August each year and hundreds of thousands climb it. It will be crowded, but worth the effort. Be sure to purchase a Fuji stick at the bottom so that you can get it wood burned at the various stages along the way. 

The climb is divided into 10 stages and most of the trails start at stage 5. The climb is hard work as the steep volcanic cider shifts under your feet like beach sand. 

Above the 8th stage, altitude sickness occasionally strikes so be aware and of course it's significantly cooler at the summit than the base. 

I should have taken more photos, but to reach the summit to get a sunrise top stamp on your Fuji stick you must climb a good bit in the night/early morning hours.

Climbing Mt. Fuji

The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The location was also very good, just far enough out of Thamel to walk, but away from the madness.
 However the neighbours dogs are let loose at night(not strays, peoples pets) and they are very loud. The hot water was temperamental and when you consider how much you are paying for the room, the hot water should work. Another negative point was the hotel pickup from the airport (15 minute journey) was 800 rupees but then we paid for a bus ticket to pokhara(7 hour journey) which cost 600... so i think its best to get a taxi. 

Nice room but loud at night

The room was extremely small. There was no hot water. The description of the room was not adequate - no toiletries, iron, cable channels as there was no TV in  a room. I had to ask for towels, toilet paiper...We had to wait a long time for breakfast. We tried to contact with the hotel by email - no answer. The airport transfer offered expensive (840 Rs) - I could easily get taxi for 400-500 Rs.At the check out we were charged 10% more for service  although we paid all included in the price during the reservation. The guy said that "everybody pays"  - so be careful! We did not pay this extra charge "invented" by the reception man (not the nice one in the reception)
