I am a lone traveler, and I booked my stay at this hotel. I was in communication with the front desk from my departure point in the UK.  I booked a Taxi via this hotel for 150 Moroccan Dirhams.

I opted for a double bed with a private bathroom, the deco is simple with a table and chair, 2 bedside tables with 4 electric sockets.

The price for my stay is not overly priced it was reasonable.

I had a pleasant stay here at this hotel with friendly staff, and I booked my return taxi back to the airport without any problems

Great Hotel

As far as I am concerned, the room was clean, the bathroom clean though a bit small but understandable for the type of place it is. There were three electrical 
outlets and work fine.
The cons, the sheets are translucent but for a couple of night it worked fine, there's also a small closet.
The guy was super friendly, he gave me two room to chose from, I stayed in 314.

Cheap and clean

Clean rooms, friendly staff, good location.

I stayed there only for two nights and was satisfied; upon arrival, I was handed the keys to three different rooms so I could pick one. The staff answered all my questions about the city of Tangier and even gave me some tips which route to take for scenic views.

ok for one night or two

I struggled between 2 or 3 stars for this one.  Here's why—

The pro's:
* all the staff we encountered was friendly
* good location just outside the medina
* fast wifi in the lobby/sitting area (didn't reach our room)

But...
* Whole place stank strongly of pesticide the entire time we were there. We had originally thought we'd stay there three nights but we only stayed one.
* Mixed with the pesticide smell was sewage; not good smells on their own, pretty heinous when mixed.
* The way all the rooms face a courtyard makes it extremely loud at night and in the morning, as everyone's voice echos and carries.  
* One outlet in the whole room (and it was near the ceiling); made charging phones/batteries an acrobatic feat!

If you need a place to crash in Tangier and this is all your budget allows, it's fine; but, if you're looking for a nice, comfortable home base, you may want to keep looking.  Orrrrr you may opt to skip Tangier altogether—head straight to Asilah or Chefchaouen!

There's a reason it's the cheapest in town

We booked one night here before our ferry back to Spain. They put us in the furthest room away from the reception up 3 flights of stairs (no lift) even though there were many rooms free on the lower floors. When we got in the room we wanted a shower but no hot water. We did ask about it at reception and the guy turned the hot water on. No toiletries or towels in the room or even a shower curtain so the floor got soaked.

And to top it off the room was really mouldy. We didn't realise at first as the light was quite dim when we arrived but in the morning found it all over the walls and ceiling. When we told the man at reception he said we should have said sooner and still had to pay full price. We refused and paid 50DH less as we felt it was unacceptable to our us in what was clearly the worse room in the hotel, we peeked in other rooms as we left and there were plenty of free, less mouldy looking rooms available. 

Not very happy with the service or the hotel, the only plus is it is close to the medina.

Mouldy room and unhelpful staff

Got a reservation for 3 nights in hotel royal in tanger.Arrived after a long yourney we were quite exhausted wanted to check in at 2.45 pm the receptionist called the manager or owner or whoever he said we can check in at 5pm!!told him we are after a long yourney and not going to wait another hours ,asked him has he got a free room?he said yes so why he was not allowed us to get the room what we booked in advance??i told him we are leaving and hope he is not going to charge us because is not our fault the check in in  this hotel from 2pm!!by the way the area looked very rough and the hotel inside was full of smoke like burned food but really smoked could hardly see anything plus all beddings and duvets were hanged outside on the corridors honestly wanted to run away.he helped to make this decision!found another hotel nearby for the same money but definitely better experience so far.Dont waste your time to book this hotel in advance there are plenty of choice around but because it is our first time in Tanger we didnt know that.
