We had a wonderful stay for three nights.   The ambience was stunning.  Location perfect with a great restaurant across the road.  Staff were kind and helpful. Easy and fast check in.  Great loungers at the water’s edge.  The property is beautiful and well taken care of.  Great pride shown in this amazing gem.  I hope to be back. ❤️❤️

Very friendly people. They went above and beyond to take care of us. Pretty place. Very small and cozy hotel which we love. Breakfast was delicious. Conveniently Located. I highly recommend

The bungalows is right in front of the laggon as stated on the description.  The room is absolutely cozy and perfect. Breakfast is included and is cooked at the time you order, hot and very yummy! Lots of places near by, stores, food, bar, etc.. i highly recomend this place, totally a 5 star!!!!

I do wish that when they came in to clean to room, that the sheet were changed to new sheets. The bed was made, but they were the same sheets that we had used for two days already.

That was an incredible experience l, we had the lagoon as a front yard, view was amazing

The property was beautiful and the lake front pier was unique.The only inconvenience was the parking was a little tight but we still managed to find space and park.

Could do with a bit of work on dock and coffee pots in the rooms would be nice.

The staff was amazing, Lala and the other lady were very helpful and were patient with all our needs and questions. They help me to find a safe taxi. Good location!

Great ambience and beautiful location on the water

Free parking on site, but you have to ring the bell at the main gate. Staff was friendly, but spoke little English. The property is large. Our room had a (shared) walk-out balcony with view of trees and lake. Free breakfast was simple, but nice. Location is only ~6 blocks to the fort and the main town square, which has lovely dining options. The square itself is alive with townsfolk in the evening. Feels more like a real Mexican town than most tourist destinations along the coast. Lovely.

Clean, quiet place to sleep at a good price.

The place is beautiful and the hotel is just like in the pictures. It's a very peaceful place with an incredible environment. Additionally, in the center, there are very good restaurants and games for the kids in the square. The only thing I would improve is the breakfast. There were only eggs (scrambled or omelet) and coffee. I would add some toast, butter, cereals, yogurt, etc.

The property is older so keep that in mind. But for me and my wife we were just using this place for a place to sleep and the location being away from the center but close enough to walk to. So per the cost and the location it is well worth it. If you are looking for an actual hotel room feel, then this is not for you. Service was wonderful. But be advised that speaking Spanish will be very helpful not only for hotel communication but also around town.

This property was magnificent, I had the bungalow on the water. The birds the cranes in the morning with the beautiful trees surrounding me hanging over the waters edge was like paradise. It was peaceful, tranquil, and very relaxing, the nice music from the next-door bar was not a bother as it stopped early in the evening, the convenience of walking out onto the beautiful dock, and jumping in the beautiful lagoon was breath taking, the staff were so delightful, and the free breakfast in the morning was excellent, I think it was the most peaceful, relaxing place. I’ve stayed in a long time if you’re a nature lover, and you love to swim this is the best place.

The location of this property cannot be beat. You’re right on the water, and a short walk to anything and everything. The staff was super friendly, and the breakfast was good. Parking is very limited and a tight squeeze, but you don’t want to park on the road or your car will likely be dinged in the night. My main complaint about this property is the mold/mildew in the cabana we stayed in. The smell was so strong, it hits you as soon as the door is open. It was so bad that my throat and eyes were burning by morning. I think one of the big issues is that they need screens on their doors and windows, so air can get in. The mosquitos are so bad that you have to keep everything closed. I think screens would really help, and you wouldn’t have to constantly run the AC. We only stayed for two nights, but I wouldn’t have been able to stay any longer. After leaving my bags and clothes all smelled horribly of mildew.

Beautiful property directly on the lagoon with a private pier. The lagoon is heavenly. The most breathtaking sunset and sunrise. The property is nestled in nature. Imagine being in nature camping, but in a nice bungalow. Breakfast is included and it was delicious. Authentic. Cooked fresh for each family. Walking distance to restaurants. We booked our boat tour with the hotel. The tours pick you up directly at the hotel’s pier. Hotel pier is nice with a swing where you can swing out into the water. Pier is beautiful and safe at nights too; they have multi-colored lights along the pirate night.They have 2 bungalows by the lagoon; we stayed in one. It's literally in nature so there are bugs and the sounds of nature all night long. This is perfection if you love nature. If you are scared of lizards or army ants (they are all over Bacalar), dont stay in the bungalow. Internet isnt strong in the bungalow either, but if you want to unplug, its perfect. The bathroom and shower are basic. Beds were ok. Towel and toiletries service were good. There is a TV, but we didnt turn it on because we were too caught up in the beauty of outside.  Manager and staff are welcoming and helpful. We loved this place.

Beautiful location right on the lagoon. The private pier let’s you have full access to the lagoon which was nice to have as all the public access areas were closed. The pier has a cute swing where I spent hours just swinging over the crystal clear waters. Can just literally step out of your room and go straight for a swim. Right in the centre to all the nice restaurants. Will definitely recommend it.

Paraiso

My room was somewhat small and the bed a bit firmer than I would prefer, but it was clean and secure and the AC worked splendidly. The hotel grounds are garden like with a pier extending out into the lagoon. All in all, a very tranquil setting.I also enjoyed the breakfast consisting of a fruit plate, juice, coffee, frijoles and eggs prepared to order. It was much better than I was expecting. Definitely would stay here again.

We decided to pay a little extra to be on the lake side & I’m glad we did. We started the adventure with a bit of a problem when I booked the wrong dates. The hotel was very helpful. I had more difficulty dealing with Hotels.com but we eventually got it all sorted. The hotel was a little bit hard to find because the AAKUL part of the sign is faded. I’m not gonna lie, I had some low expectations based on a few of the Google reviews that I can now discount. The hotel does exist. Our room above the breakfast area was quite comfortable. The shower had good water pressure & hot water, the a/c worked very well, could have used a blanket 😬 The Internet wasn’t great, but come on, we didn’t come here to be on our devices! Breakfast was lovely. They provided ☕️ coffee & juice, fresh fruit & eggs & beans, it was plenty to get the day started. The location is very walkable, so we generally left the car parked there & walked into town. The property is quite lovely & natural. Yes you’re going to need bug spray, it’s the Mexican jungle on a body of water. You can’t really see the lake from the main part of the hotel, which makes walking down the path & onto the pier that much more spectacular! The pier is a great place to sun ☀️ & swim or look at the stars ✨ with a cocktail 🍸 I really cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff, they were very helpful & attentive & kind. I hope we can make our way back to Bacalar in the future, we would definitely stay here again.
