Lodge Yuki

Great place if you want to experience Japanese powder and culture on a budget. Lodge Yuki is a traditional Japanese Hostel. The rooms are small but warm, very clean, pleasant and quiet. Parking is at another hotel (at the back of the Hostel) so you will have to pay ¥1000/£7 per night. The canteen serves fantastic Japanese food at good prices. Mrs Yuki makes the best continental/cooked breakfast at ¥700/£4.9 ...that's if you don't fancy Japanese breakfast ¥500/£3.5 The Yuki team is super helpful. The only downside is that smoking is allowed everywhere. Town, shops, bus stop is 5-7 min walk. Tsugaike Ski lifts are 3 min walk. Gondola is a bit further but you can take the chairlift up to get to the gondola. Ski pass is ¥5100/£35.7 for a day. Buying daily passes might work out cheaper than Hakuba Valley pass. This is depending on which resort you will decide to spend most days at. For freerides/tree riding and fresh powder I recommend driving to Hakuba Cortina. Additional Info: *Vending machines, sweets shop, cafeteria and canteen, shoe lockers are located on the ground floor of the Hostel. Ski room in the basement. 4 people in 1 room is too much of a squeeze- I recommend booking max 2people per room. The 'futon beds' are just mattress. There are no wooden frames but it's all surprisingly comfortable. The bedding was super clean and warm.
