Petit Hotel Hamac

Stayed for 9 nights with family. Owners have limited English but are super helpful and friendly. Willingly drove us where we needed to go. Breakfasts of yogurt, fruit, and a variety of carefully prepared egg dishes, toast, homemade jams. Had a hotpot meal one evening - delicious and loads of food. 
Close to Tokyo Hotel for buses, and Wadano area few mins walk for Pub, Hummingbird restaurant and Izakaya Kaz restaurant.
Hot tub bath open from 4pm for a soak after a day on the snow. Latest modern Japanese toilets.

This was an absolute find! I stayed here for 6 nights based on reviews I read on Trip Advisor and I was not disappointed. The owners cannot do enough to help, from advising on bus and train timetables (despite limited English) to driving guests every day to the ski lifts. Very reasonable rates. A very comfy, warm room (I didn't even need the heater on), good size, excellent facilities. Great breakfast every day (you pay extra). Had dinner here twice - enormous meal with great variety of 'snacks' as well as main meal. Great location - 600 metres to bus terminal and restaurants. Shuttle bus for Hakuba47 stops right outside. Shuttle bus from Happo-One atops about 200 metres from hotel. Mr Hamac (didn't actually know his name) will even pick you up from the station if sight-seeing for the day. Will give you a card with phone no. I will definitely be back.

We stayed here for over a week in January.
The hosts are just lovely but have very limited English (thank goodness for translator apps!). They will drive you to Happo One ski area, and if you go elsewhere they'll drop you off at the bus stop. 
On that note, bus stops are close by and easy to use.
Happo town is about a 10 minute walk (easy stroll and beautiful).
Rooms are small but practical, and the spa bath was lovely after skiing.
Breakfast is simple but delicious

This hotel is located in Wando and is centrally located. If you're looking for something more homely and not so much like a standard boring hotel room this place is perfect.

Location: 
It's easy to walk from the hotel to the bus/information centre (about 5-10minutes), good places to eat (world food trucks along side the road, ramen ect). Or stay in the hotel and have a home cooked meal (highly recommend). The mountain is just down the hill and an easy stroll or the staff are more than happy to drive you.

Arrival/ Getting around:
Upon arrival at the bus station the staff working at the information centre will call the hotel and let them know you have arrived. It was only a few minutes before they picked us up in their private van. This made life very easy with all our luggage. 
The night bus stops just around the corner (stop 4) and it's about 1-2minutes walk from there. 
There is a free shuttle bus which runs around Hakuba to various locations but we found walking just as convenient and easy. If we didn't know what way to walk we would simply ask the staff in the hotel

The hotel:
The people who own the hotel are absolutely adorable and will go above and beyond for you. We didn't have breakfast plan as part of our stay but was easy enough to just ask them for breakfast on the days in which we wanted it. We ended up eating breakfast here most mornings as there was always plenty of food freshly made and was always satisfied with it. 
My partner and I stayed in the western twin room which was big enough for the two of us and was nice having our own bathroom (as many places in Hakuba are shared bathrooms).
The hotel was always clean, warm and comfortable. We had a 10night period here and were happy to find out there is a washing machine and dryer available for use in the hotel. 
On the days in which we wanted to snowboard they helped us rent our gear, offered us discounted lift passes and drove us two and from the mountain so we didn't have to carry all our equipment. 

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants there stay in Hakuba to feel like they are home

A little gem

Simple but excellent find

Ideal place to stay!

The accommodation was very run down and dirty.  We were not expecting 5 star but we were expecting clean toilets, clean bathroom and a clean hand basin.  But instead we received toothpaste smeared over the sinks, toilets that still had the residue of the previous occupants and stubble over the sinks and bath from the previous occupants shaving.  To top it off, the toilet seat was covered by what I could only call a shag carpet.  It was a fluffy cover over the seat.  After seeing the state of the the rest of the bathroom, one can only assume it was not clean and sanitary.  The owners were however extremely lovely and helpful when the language barrier was broken through.  I will not stay here next time I visit Hakuba.
