Dream Hostel

My son and I stayed 1 night here and the family in just a short time were like our own. Ingrid is so nice and bubbly and her husband Jay is very nice. They were very helpful in getting us where we wanted to go. "Dad" was our transport to and from airport and he was super friendly as well. He took us for breakfast and showed us aroubd a little on the way. We plan on going back in the summer for a longer stay.

A friend and I stayed at the dream hostel for total of 9 nights even though we only planned to stay 3 nights. Ingrid and Jerry who manage the hostel welcomed us like old friends, so that we felt like at home from the first minute. The hostel is very clean and located in a quiet area. A small grocery store and a street restaurant are within 5 minutes walking distance. Would definitely stay there again.

More home stay than hostel. Located 10-15 mins walk from town and 20 mins from beach but easy to catch cheap route taxis. Host family are lovely and will take you out to see local nightlife if you want. Basic facilities but clean and comfy.

Montego bay is a busy place with plenty going on.  This is more of a home stay than a hostel but it was brilliant. The hosts were fantastic and super friendly and although it was a small way out of town it was easy enough to get around.  The hosts invited us on night's out with them and I felt completely safe and had an amazing experience. Also plenty of info and recommendations for the rest of Jamacia. I'll be back soon! One love xx

Loved it!!!

Upon arriving into Montego Bay we were calling the hostel with the number provided . After calling for an hour unable to get a response  we were driving around in circles trying to locate the place . 

After finally finding the property I was dismayed by the condition it was in .
The outside had white shiny floor tiles which looked clean and inviting leading one to imagine the inside would be the same .

I was shown a map and told to use my phone to photograph it , no maps or tourist information provided ! 
An offer of a lift to the supermarket by the owner was offered for $3000 JMD , they don't tell you it would cost $400 return ! 
They charge $3000 to take you to the airport which is three times the local charge .
A sense of greediness cries out here , making money but not caring about the guests . 

A private room had been booked , inside the bed was basic with a cheap uncomfortable mattress causing back pain for me .
The furnishings were cheap and unattractive.
Two small rag rugs were provided which caused inconvenience as they slipped around the floor on the tiles .
The walls and woodwork were dirty and needed a good paint .

As Montego Bay is very hot there is a lack of air you most definitely need A/C alas only a fan provided which wasn't sufficient hence a bath of sweat and no sleep was suffered .

The kitchen was a total disgrace , everything needed upgrading !
An old gas camping cooker was dangerously balanced on top of an old cooker to which we had to request they bring a gas bottle in order to use it .
Hand towels provided were dirty upon arrival and were not replaced .
No hot water in the kitchen !
Both the main entrance and back door entrance locks were very difficult to use and need replacing no ease of use at all .

Guests are not permitted to bring in visitors , I noted one guest had to sit for hours outside the property talking to a visitor and was not permitted to bring them inside for drinks .

The bathroom , again in a very poor state of disrepair.
The bath is old and ingrained with stains from years of use . 

An electric shower to which after trying several times it was impossible to regulate the heat it was too hot .
I certainly wasn't trusting this cheap worn out looking contraption who's shower head and pipe were made of rubbery white plastic ! 
 My stay consisted of cold showers I felt it safer to turn the electric shower off . 

Upon leaving and going to another hotel we used were given a taxi by the owner who was unfriendly and rude complaining about money .
I was questioned why I had stayed out so late 11:30pm the night before ! Very unprofessional!

Upon being dropped off he unloaded the luggage slammed the boot shut and drove off pretty quickly.

When I looked a bag was missing so I called the number for the hosted I wasn't able to get through for a while .

When I got through I spoke to the owners son and wife who had come for the free ride into town and been dropped off en route ( to which I'd not been impressed as my belongings were also on the back seat of the car ) 

I was told by the son his father would not drop off the bag that I would have to take a taxi to collect it he talked over me rudely and cut the call .

It then cost a further $1000 to collect the bag .

These people running this hostel have no customer service idea or experience.
It tops one of the worst places I've stayed and to refuse to return a customers property is unbelievable! 

I would certainly never recommend this place to anyone coming to stay in Montego Bay.
To reach the beach you have to take two car journeys the area where the hostel is was unsafe I was told by a local not to walk on the road at night .
The hostel is down a steep road quiet and dark not good for women .
The area has a ghetto feel to it you certainly wouldn't feel safe ! 

In closure please don't book this as it's going to be joyless !
