Friendly family which go out of their way to provide good food and accomodations as well as great tips for sightseeing in the immediate vicinity (medieval villages as Orsmarso largely unknown by foreign tourists). Working farm in very charming valley.

We stayed only one night due to bad weather (we had planned to hike in the park).  It was a weekday in October and we were the only guests.  Room and bathroom were spacious, clean, and simply furnished.  The room opened out to a large terrace (shared with the other rooms) with a view out to the valley (and probably the mountains, but the clouds were too low to see them).  The owners turned on the heat when we requested it. We had a difficult time opening the lock and had to ask the owner for help.  This is a real working farm that raises sheep, cattle, chickens and grows a lot of its own produce.  We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant below the rooms that was included in the half-board rate with the room. Dinner was complete with homemade cured meats, red wine, pasta, grilled meats and homegrown pears for dessert.  The hosts were very hospitable.  You will need to speak some Italian.  Breakfast was not so great - just non-homemade baked items, juice and cappuccino, plus some field corn that they had grown.  It was tricky to find -- a hint: don't get off the A-3 at the Mormanno exit, but take the next one east of that, then head back west a little and look for the sign for Campolongo, turning south.  Watch for cows and sheep on the road.
