My husband and I were perfectly pleased with our stay at this clean and convenient guest house. We really appreciated the free wi-fi and en suite toilet, and I can't tell you how happy I was to find comfortable, squishy pillows and not the rock-hard foam ones that so many more expensive hotels have. The manager kindly gave us a good dining recommendation (Husid)--thanks much! To those unhappy with the price, I suggest don't go to Isafjördur--there are not that many options and this was less expensive than most. And since it is very basic and the shower is shared, bring your own soap and shampoo and just get up a bit early if you don't want to have to wait.

Clean, basic, and convenient

The place is cheap for Iceland’s standards but doesn’t offer much. The furniture is old and neglected, especially the kitchen, but the rooms and the bathrooms are clean enough.
Furthermore we, as well as all the other guests we’ve met that day, had issues checking in, because there’s nobody in there and the guests have to call the owners who live in the next town and therefore wait some 30 minutes for their arrival.

Cheap but poor

The Litla Guest House was clean, there were sheets on the beds and one towel each, and the location, in tiny Isafjordur, was fine.  Lonely Planet had praised the facility as a great choice (and maybe it was for a 20-something traveling with a back pack and very limited funds), and had also said there was one bathroom for every two rooms.  In fact, there were 8 rooms and one large bathroom with one shower to be shared by everyone.

The rooms were tiny, although clean.  There was nobody there to greet guests and no sign saying how to  check in or find out where to sleep.  We ended up phoning the number in the travel guide and the proprietor said which room was ours.

I will grant that we had different expectations, and that was part of the problem.  But it was small and cramped and not at all convenient for people with luggage who are accustomed to just a little bit more comfort.

As long as you know what you're getting into...

When we arrived there was nobody there to greet us, no note telling us which room was ours. We had to phone the elusive owner. There was only one toilet/shower room in the place, a shower which took about 2hrs to drain before the next person could use it. Despite this being reported on our first day nothing was done about it. It would appear that the only concern the owner has with the guests is in getting their money. The owner confirmed, on the phone, that we could cancel the third night of our stay without being charged......we WERE charged! Our emails go unanswered. 

Worst experience in Iceland. 

Once we found it, we were afraid we'd found it. There was a large dog living downstairs who liked to poop beside the front door. The rest was OK, but I'll never stay there again. Just cheap. You can get much better for the same money.
