Herrsching am Ammersee

It's a good location, right by the subway and a five-minute walk to the lake. It's a very old building. It's rustic, but it's fine.

It's just...

The Andechser Hof is now called Arthotel Herrsching with restaurant Andechser Hof. We found a tastefully decorated house/room in a skilled blend of nature art and welcoming purism. The breakfast offered on a surprisingly small area everything delicious beyond the standard, besides freshly served egg dishes. The proximity to the lake, the covered bicycle parking lot, the S-Bahn station, the landing strip and other local ice cream dishes makes the house in many ways additional recommended!

I'd like to stay longer.

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, as usual, we were in the shop and were very disappointed, probably the owner was changed. When I ordered another handbreast when the food came, I thought such a giant plate it would make me want to eat, because it was the whole plate full of shalots ( onions) according to the menu card lay on it 4 strips of handbreast garnished with 8 small potatoes for 14.90€.

Excessive price

Very good food, nice ambience, very friendly and professional service in a very tasty restaurant. We ate well, were friendly, served quickly and competently.

Good-natured food, good ambience

I stayed here last year when I felt the decor was a bit tired. Since there has been a huge refurbishment gone on. The last bits are happening: the wooden stairs were being sanded and revarnished. The rooms have a contemporary feel with wood floors, wood and rattan furniture, up to date bathrooms and comfortable beds. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast buffet is not the largest you may find in Bavaria but perfectly sufficient on a self service basis. The adjacent restaurant offers decent local food. The location is very central opposite the local S-Bahn station to Munich and just yards from the lakeside and its long promenade. Easy access to shops and the departure point for lake boat cruises. Our room faced the road, and earplugs were provided, but not needed. 

Greatly improved decor

The room is beautifully decorated in rustic style and hygienically sensible with a wooden floor. The mattress was good. The wool is fast enough and free. The service is nice and friendly. The breakfast buffet is rich and the coffee is very good. If there were more egg dishes, it would be perfect.

Good meeting hotel

I have stayed at this hotel several times before. It is conveniently situated in the middle of the village, nearby the railway station and just 5 minutes walk to the lake. The room are simple but comfortable and large. A good breakfast is served and the prices are reasonable.

Good hotel

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Very reasonable price, comfortable rooms and beds as well as a breakfast that fulfills all your expectations. They have a restaurant in direct connection with the hotel lobby, which makes it convenient if you want to have a good dinner without moving away to far.

Convenient hotel with good breakfast

I have been in this hotel several time for business trip. Globally this is a good hotel, simple, but nice. However, during summer, there is no air conditionning forcing to open window to get some fresh air, but then mosquitos make our night a nightmare.

Positive points
- Good breakfast with large choice of break, juice, and other sausages, etc...
- Nice location at 5 minutes from the lake
- Great room, lot of space, good material
- very nice bar and restaurant
- quiet unless you open the windo because it is too hot in the room
- Large parking space
- just in front of the train station 
- very nice people

- Great conference rooms

Negative points
- No air conditioning what is a disaster in summer, because room get very hot

Comfortable hotel but not in summer

We spend 3 nights in this hotel during a training and I need to say that I was disappointed by the low value!

The business model is a mix of hotel, seminars and assistted living for the elderies. So expect to meet some older (some really old) folks at lunch and dinner. I personally have no problem with that. What I can only evaluate as "acceptable" are relatively old rooms (furniture, decor from 60ies) and - this makes me to to really downrate this place - are the extremely poor matresses (too soft). The pillows were the chepest available (Polyester 5€ at IKEA) and the sheet was also very thin. 
Bathrooms have been "updated" recently but they only changed some key elements like toilett and sink to make it look optically better....

another downside of this hotel is the cuisine: I can't judge on the ala-carte menu but the catering we were served in buffet style during lunch and dinner was extremly poor: overcooked vegetables and stews, salad sleves not cut smaller - the canteen at our working place is much better!

Breakfast is very limited continental, not worth more than 5€ - good coffee machine!!

Also remember that due to the old wooden windows (70ies?) you can hear trucks and e.g. street cleaning machines from aorund 7am. Also noise from corridor is hearable all the time (they provide ear plugs by default!!)

We paid around 100€ for the room incl. breakfast and ca. 30€ für each catering incl. drinks. I think these rates are by far too high for what they offered!!!

Location next to railways station but not next to lake! Wifi was fast but very unstable

Not reommended

Assistent living or hotel? Very poor catering (buffet), limited breakfast, plastic pillows and noisy - low value
