Teo Guesthouse and Camping in Mestia

To set the proper expectation, Teo's Guesthouse is located in upper Mestia. The way going up from the main road is steep so if you are without a car, I would advise you do some exercise before heading out. We originally planned to just stay for four days but we extended a day. We immediately fall in love with Mestia, calling Teo's Guesthouse "home". Once we arrived, the humble owner George welcomed us with a bright smile. He is Svanetian but also speaks Russian and Italian while his wife is Ukrainian. We have the mesmerizing mountain view where you will not just see the Caucasus Mountains but also the hikers passing by everyday (as this is the way to the beautiful Koruldi Lakes), a number of cows, pigs and horses. The room is huge with a clean bathroom and they also have a balcony where you can chat with other travelers while having a cup of coffee or tea. On our first night, Valeri the kindest Ukrainian guy, gave us homemade wine to taste (for free). The next morning, he assisted us to go eat breakfast in the neighboring Keti Margiani Guest House for only 15 lari per person (breakfast is not currently available in Teo's). The lady owner in Keti's cooked fresh delicious food that we could not believe she prepared a lot we could barely finish. What was left in the table she insisted for us to take away. Valeri offered us to sit and talk on the rooftop of their Svanetian Tower, truly breathtaking! On the next days, he allowed us to go with him to the mountains looking for their cow named ""Chabi"" and they even let me try to milk Chabi. Yay! Teo's Guesthouse has grapes, plums and nuts you can freely pick any time of the day. They taught us how they make a plum Kompot too. Our last day in Mestia, Valeri dropped us to the bus station at 7:30 on a freezing morning. Beautiful place and hospitable people. A remarkable experience indeed! Thank you, Teo's.
