This was a breathtaking stay at Chateau De Tertres, from the hotel and the grounds to the absolutely beautiful room, you could not fault it. Christine and Bernard went above and beyond to assist us and made our stay memorable. Meticulously clean and extremely comfortable, you should not miss this experience. The breakfast was amazing with a high quality selection. Thank you, Christine and Bernard, from Australia :)

We spent 2 nights in this charming hotel while cycling the Loire a Velo route. It's full of character and the view from our room over the Loire valley was lovely. 
It's a 20 minute walk into town to the nearest restaurant but the owners were happy for us to bring a picnic back one evening and sit out on the terrace. 
There was a problem with the hot water while were there but the owners did everything they could to sort it out and generously waived the charge for breakfast and our drinks to compensate us. Very fair I thought. 
There was no indoor storage available for cycles.

We could not have asked for more.  Everything was perfect.  We will definitely stay again the next time we are in the area.

Christine and Bernard are charming hosts to their peaceful and picturesque property. It was amazing to open up our bedroom windows to see deer running through the garden  and hearing various kinds of birds singing.  In the distance, hot air balloons dotted the sky, as if we were viewing a painting.  The continental breakfast was a treat with fresh croissants and baquettes from the local bakery with the best fruit butter and yogurts.  Chateau des Tertres is a gem in Loire Valley!

Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds full of autumn crocuses. Room was small but had a super view. Not that many places to eat nearby but the breakfast was excellent. We were on bikes and bike storage was secure. Plenty of parking for cars. 5km from Chaumont. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is small and charming and set in an area of beautiful green hills with great views of the countryside.  One morning from our room we saw hot air balloons drifting by.  It is an older hotel, well maintained with lots of charm.  The rooms are not air conditioned. A nice, simple breakfast was served each morning.  During our stay I had a medical issue that needed attention.  The manager called into town and set up a doctor's appointment for me which was a five minute drive away.  The doctor took me in right away and I was able to get the treatment I needed.  I was impressed that the hotel manager went above and beyond to help me the appointment as I would not have known what to do on my own.  If you want a nice and personal experience staying in the beautiful countryside of France in 'Chateau' country, I would recommend this hotel.

Staff are wonderful and are not constantly in your face but so attentive when asked any question.

This hotel is wonderful, the location is picturesque, the staff are not over bearing, but once asked a question cannot do enough to help you. The bedroom we are in, is beautiful and attention to detail is outstanding. Would come and stay again very soon if the opportunity arose.

The hotel building is beautiful and in the ground level furnished very nicely. The welcome felt a little bit rushed , but everyone was very polite . The room was clean, but small. We felt a little bit cold in the room because there were no pictures on the wall or information from the hotel. The room was ok, it was a good value for money . The breakfast in the morning was small but with a great quality and service. The terrace outside is very nice, it is very quiet. 

We recently spent 2 nights in the Loire Valley to celebrate our anniversary.  After much research, I decided that Chateau des Tertres had the best location to execute our plan at the bottom of this review.  The Chateau is advertised as a classic mid 19th Century nobleman's house, which seems accurate.  It sits on lovely grounds just off the main road that leads to Blois on the North side of the Loire.  The Chateau serves breakfast but does not have a restaurant, so plan on eating other meals out, which worked fine with our itinerary.

The rooms do not have air conditioning which is common in this part of France due to the mostly temperate conditions.  We cooled our room at night by opening the windows and using the lovely shutters attached to the outside of the windows.  In the morning, we woke to the sounds of the birds chirping.  There was occasional other noise like other guests arriving up the driveway, but mostly quiet.  Also, the rooms are not fully soundproof, but quite enough that adjacent noise was either unnoticeable or minimal.

Breakfast was continental and consisted of coffee, juice, tea, fresh croissants, cheese, yogurt, cereals, and fruit.  Breakfast was not included with our rack rate, but was worth the additional charge, (we are suckers for fresh croissants).

The Chateau includes a lift for getting bags to the second floor.  It has a lovely large sitting room where we enjoyed a drink and played cards after dinner.  The Chateau was a welcome refuge each night after a day of touring.

I highly recommend this Chateau, but keep in mind that it is a balance of elegance and the rustic.  The staff was welcoming and helpful.  We hope to return!

The Plan:
1)  A TGV ride from Paris to Tours (Gare de Tours).
2)  We rented a car at the Hertz near the Gare to get around.  Bought the full insurance which included a GPS (required).
3)  Drove to Villandry to see the Chateau and Gardens.  Amazing, our favorite.
4)  Spent the night at Chateau des Tertres which gave us central position to all of the following sites.
5)  Ate at a restaurant near the hotel recommended by the staff.
6)  Started the next day at Chenonceau, a must see.
7)  Drove to Chombard stopping at interesting sites as we came upon them between Chenonceau and Chombard.  We grabbed lunch in a patisserie enroute.
8)  Toured Chombard, another must see.  After the tour, rented bikes on site and road around the lovely hunting grounds.
9)  Drove to Amboise where we ate dinner.  Returned to the Chateau.
10)  Next day, drove to Clos de Luce where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years.  Very cool.
11)  Returned to Tours for TGV back to Paris.

Get the Full Chateau Experience

We'd been traveling around various cities of France and decided while seeing the Loire Vally we wanted to stay somewhere outside of a city center and this hotel was located centrally for where we were traveling. It wasn't too far off the main highway but felt nicely secluded. It was decorated well, though there are some simple changes that would easily elevate the interior (like a clean white shower curtain instead of a plastic printed one and a different set of curtains would have made the room feel more fitting with the rest of the house). We were surprised there was an elevator which was nice to not have to lug baggage upstairs. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good, the wifi worked well and one night we bought a bottle of wine and sat out and enjoyed the patio. The only negative for us was that it was in an area that didn't have any place to eat when we arrived after 8 and it was a 20 min drive to get back to areas that did, but that was our own fault for choosing to stay out of the city, but in retrospect we might opt to stay closer to Amboise for access to restaurants. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
