Hostal Solemare

I have read a few of the poor reviews about this place, and they must obviously be from past ownership. I’m coming up on week 2 of staying at The Sole Mare and the stay has been nothing short of fantastic. The location is just close enough to town that you can find the action if you’re looking for it, but just far enough away that it is plenty quiet to get in touch with your internal Self. Benecio, Francisco, and Pauletta (hope I spelled those right) have been incredible. Very attentive hosts that actually care about how my stay is going. I often seeing them sweeping the main parts of the hostel every morning, going the extra mile. The rooms are simple and nice, but the views from the beach are spectacular (see pics). There is coffee every morning and tea in the afternoon. There is a yoga/surfing all around the hostel. And Shankha, the restaurant two doors down, might be the best offering in all of Montanita. I eat there 3-4 times a week. The beach bar next door also has meaningful gatherings every evening at sunset, which gives a solo traveler like me just enough connection to stay sane. It’s safe. It’s quiet. It’s beautiful and clean. And the value for the money is unmatched! I would definitely recommend staying here! I’m most likely going to be here all of April.
