We stayed for 2 nights, the hotel is very pleasant the customer service was the best from the boy we were looking after, to the lady who cooks the dishes, by the way very rocky, we had the hotel only for our family and the truth is that I would return with great pleasure, highly recommended, plus it is very close to downtown San Jose.

The positive: nice people working there 
The negatives: We usually never write these kind of reviews but we feel like we have to in order to save other travelers from the experiences we had. 

We stayed at this hostel two nights and got very little sleep. Our room was located 1 meter from the reception desk and with no sound isolation, the room was loud from all the activity randomly through the night - people were talking really loud in the hallway between about 3am and 4:30am. There are also dogs nearby that bark for hours at end during the night. 

The room had no windows except above the door facing an all-night illuminated hallway. There air was very bad due to lack of venting. The rooms are not cleaned during the stay, the shower died while I was washing and was left with shampoo in my hair and no water.

The food was average at best, we stayed in many hostels during our trip, some even cheaper than this with great experiences (we’re not ‘fancy’ people and don’t need a lot to be happy with a hostel/hotel) We feel a bit bad for the owners who are very nice and friendly people but we do not want other travelers to experience what we did, or we’d at least like people to know what to expect. The owners need to take a look at how things are being run and I hope they can use some of these points to make improvements because there’s potential to make something really nice.

Disappointing

This is a feedback about the management of this hotel and no about the accomodation itself. The owner is using a well know "voluntering" website for a work for accomodation exchange This volunteering should be an experience for both parts and they are using it as a free workforice. Basically they say Yes to everyone and cancel without notifying. They don't not care about people and showed huge disrespect.

Disrespect

We spent one night at the Posada del sol hostel and it was a very nice address, we were surprised. The staff were very kind, helpful and attentive. The room unfortunately had no window, only a small bemool, but it didn't really bother us at the end and there was a ventilator! The room had a private and clean bathroom. The common space is very nice and large and the lunch was very nice and friendly!! We recommend this address which was very nice and cheap in San José, which is very rare!!

Good address

This hostel is tucked out of the way so it's really quiet with not many people passing by all the time.  At the same time, it was really easy to walk from the hostel to the central market or any of the museums.  The lady who runs it is super sweet and was really helpful with making breakfast in the morning as well as finding things to do.  They're in the process of renovating some of the rooms and they're doing a great job.  I've seen some bad reviews for them, but we didn't have a problem.  I'd definitely stay here again.  It was an amazing location for the price!  The rooms are quaint, but if you're doing it right you're not in the rooms much anyways.

Clean, safe, quiet

First thing to note is that they only accept payment at the front desk, so DO NOT pay for the hotel on a travel website. I did that and had to spend 1.5 hours on the phone to cancel my reservation online so that I wouldn't get charged by the booking site. The staff was very nice and were patient about getting the booking sorted out. You can pay cash or card at the front desk.

Cons:
My room was very close to the front desk and the person working there played loud music until about 11pm. I was not able to fall asleep until the music stopped. 

Cute budget hotel with very friendly staff

A hotel that gives you everything you need to feel at home. Clean, spacious and illuminated rooms, very comfortable kitchen, spectacular breakfast and the most......Sabrina and Fermin, helped us in everything from the moment we arrived until we left with different suggestions for handling ourselves all over Costa Rica and to complete Merli's presence with a beautiful and caring kitten.

Completely recommended

Clean room and pleasant decoration Sabrina gives excellent treatment from the time of booking until departure and the staff in general are super pleasant. They help you with indications of nearby places. Overall super optimum, cost-benefit ratio outperformed.

Excellent treatment and cordiality.

The place is really very nice to spend from a few days to very long stays. On the one hand, the breakfast is abundant, fresh and rich. The rooms are very comfortable, as well as the common spaces all over the place. The cleanliness is very good. The price-quality ratio seems to me to be very appropriate. Finally, if you should highlight the attention of the staff is excellent, your treatment is of a great warmth, as if you were staying for a few friends. I will definitely be back!

Excellent location for the house.

My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights at the hotel Posada del Sol. We loved that the hotel had a kitchen and spaces to rest apart from the room because for example on a rainy day we stayed all day at the hotel very pleasantly, like at home. There is good wifi signal throughout the hotel, excellent for those who work with the computer. The owner and the people who work there have welcomed us very well and given us very good information to move around. The breakfast is excellent, has fruits, coffee, toasted and the famous chicken pinto with egg yolks ripe in the typical Costa Rica breakfast.
