Jiaxin Hotel

This is a hidden gem. But be warned, they have space for 60 guests so the place could get a bit crowded in July, August and around Chinese New Year. I was visiting the ancient city of Píngyáo and chose this place from Airbnb and I was so pleased that I had. The lady owner, Iaihong speaks excellent English and her husband’s English is not bad either. They could not have been kinder and more willing to help and answer questions. During my trip to Píngyáo from Beijing I broke my glasses. Iaihong told me where to go and wrote out a note in Chinese for the opticians to see if the lenses could be removed from the broken frame and put in a new frame. Within an hour my glasses were repaired and I was most impressed with the opticians but more so by my host’s willingness to help. My room was very comfortable with a giant bed, a slightly smaller wet room, excellent air conditioning and bedside lighting which is not always the case in China. The hostel does provide food at additional cost but as I did not order any I am not able to comment on the quality. But what I saw others eating, it all looked good and the eaters commented favourably. My sole criticism is that the bath towels could have been a good deal bigger. If you’ve come to visit the ancient city of Píngyáo and are not looking for a 5 star hotel then I’d recommend this place, but I’d pack a towel to be in the safe side.
