Excellent location, very close to the old town, but away from the hustle and bustle.

Charming, sweet

A very good experience here. I was staying in a comfort room, which was on the rooftop of the property. Lovely, minimalist design and spacious.

Location was great, as I like my peace and quiet. However, the guest house is right on the edge of the ancient city (about 50m from the Erhai Gate) so had good access into the town. Being Dali, there's a lot of good food options nearby and in the town.

The proprietors clearly love their job and were easily accessible. The receptionist speaks some English, but where discussing more complex plans she called the proprietor to answer my queries. They were also pro-active in offering me travel advice and organizing my onward transit.

The only con is that hot water was slow to come on.

Lovely, secluded guest house

We enjoyed our three day stay very much. Communication with the owner was very good, we made a reservation via phone only a few days in advance. Due to the train schedule we arrived at 5am in the morning, but a key was placed for us and we got the door code via email. Very modern and spacious rooms, excellent value for the price. Access to a big common area with a very well equipped kitchen and washing machine. The only small negative point: we accidentally broke a plate and were charged about 7€, which I think was is a little exaggerated. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend the guesthouse for a stay in Dali.

Very modern

Located outside the Ancient Town, but very close to the entrance through the East Gate, the Dodo`s Guest House is good option for a stay in Dali. We occupied the studio located on the second floor, quite roomy, with comfy bed and bit dark bathroom.
We were using also small terrace on our floor, with armchairs and table. The Dodo`s Guest House is like a oasis in the neglected surroundings, although it`s pretty noisy in the night, especially in the weekends. There is also the free wi-fi in the room, but working rather slowly.  The place is atmospheric, there is an access to the clean kitchen and pleasant lobby room. However, the biggest value of this property is Jeff, the owner of the guest house, very helpful and cooperative in arranging the transportation for the sightseeing around. He is charming and tactful person, with good English and wide knowledge about the tourist highlights of Yunnan province.  
As the drawbacks, I can mention the lack of breakfast  and non-acceptance of the international credit cards.

Pleasant accomodation, with English speaking owner

For this price there was no reason to expect a miracle and there was no miracle. We stayed one night in this establishment, which turned out to be the worst night of our stay. Apart from the lack of air conditioning, we had to sleep the windows open and so we had to endure the almost incessant barking of neighborhood dogs and the noise of traffic. Note that the windows were not equipped with mosquito nets, which allowed the mosquitoes to restore themselves two cents. In addition to this, the door of the room was closing and leaving virtually half a meter of space in place. So, wherever a person was standing in front of our door, we didn't feel that she was wearing any hair, and we all found that the hair was important in front of our bed, and when we gathered a drawer in front of our bed and all our staff, we found that the drawer in front of the hotel was not a bed.

Bad night.

This was an absolute haven just outside the the East gate of the old town.  Everything was clean.  Jeff had excellent English and was most helpful in providing advice, organising a driver and suggesting restaurants.

We had a very pleasant stay in this guesthouse a very nice welcome, spacious and very comfortable rooms, a well equipped bathroom with a heating lamp in the shower and hair dryer the hotel is in a kind of loft, everything is decorated with a lot of taste the common space below allows you to settle for breakfast breakfast breakfast is not provided but there is a bakery two steps away and we can make tea or coffee at the guesthouse there is a washing machine available for 10 yuan the old Dali Dali center is just 100m away very good address if you have to stay at a good price with a good rapport

Kindness and attention efficiency. We were welcomed by the owner's sister during the entire stay, modern, clean, loft decorated common areas, bobo style. No breakfast but we were able to make coffee in the kitchen and we recommend a grocery store not far from the main artery at 5-7 minutes which sells sticks and half-salt beer as well as a yogurt stand not far away.

A pleasant stay of 5 nights

I loved how the guesthouse was modern and trendy with well thought of décor in the common spaces. I stayed here with 5 other friends for 2 nights so I was able to experience the various rooms they offered. All rooms were extremely clean and after the long car ride from Lijiang, we really appreciated the piping hot rain shower. The double bed was quite firm so I highly recommend the Japanese-style tatami twin futon beds instead. The location was perfect as it was less than a minute walk to the main strip and Jeff the owner was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. Highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone staying in Dali!

Modern guesthouse right in the ancient city

It's a beautiful, modern and design-oriented place, really very nice for a very reasonable price. A particularly kind and thoughtful owner. Outside the tourist bustle but within a minute walk of the first shops and restaurants. Owner of excellent advice for restaurants and ballads. PERFECT the ideal address for us. The photos found on the internet represent exactly what we found.
