Barony Hotel Yueyang

I visited Yueyang in Hunan , China to see a good friend of mine who is staying there with his new family. I booked an executive room for RMB 388 via Internet and on arrival , I was impressed by the quick check in as the reception staff has English name tags and speak a little bit of English. But the room was spacious with a lounge separate from the bedroom with its own tv and wash room. In fact , the lounge is good enough to entertain business or social visitors. I stayed 3 nights. Breakfast for 2 is included in the rate. I prefer the western breakfast which is on the second floor of the hotel as there is coffee available. Chinese breakfast is on the ground floor. Walking distance to shopping mall and underground shops. KTV great inside the hotel. Yueyang is an ancient city but with recent property boom and rapid housing construction , none of the old city structure is still standing except Yueyang Lo ( tower) which is over 700 years old. Dong Ting lake is worth a visit but nothing outstanding as such. But there is an ancient relic namely the cixi pagoda that has been lying in ruin due lack of maintenance and care , is situated at someone backyard . This pagoda is over 900 years old and is worth saving by the Yueyang city management.
