After arriving late in PV we were looking to get a room. Our first two that we tried to book were given away to other people that showed up even after we confirmed so by the time we knew it was around midnight. We called Rudolfo and he surprisingly answered his phone and was more than welcome to take us in to his hostile. We got situated and had a good nights rest. The next evening we had a very intelligent conversation with him as he speaks three languages fluently and he made us a great breakfast in the morning. Very welcoming to anyone that comes his way at any time of day. I highly recommend using his services and the nightly rate is more than reasonable. The house is also closely located to the lakefront walk that leads into downtown.

We stayed at Wool and Wood for 10 days and even though Puerto Varas is small, we wish we could have stayed longer because of Juan Pablo! He is incredibly kind and thoughtful - he was always wanting to help in any way that he could, and he continuously went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great time in Puerto Varas. Juan Pablo personally drove us into town and walked us to several places to exchange our Pesos for dollars and then get larger bills before we headed to Argentina - even though Puerto Varas felt like a very safe city, having a friend to help navigate this tricky situation (a non-Spanish speaking couple walking around with a lot of money in their pockets) made things so much easier! This is just one small example of the many times in which Juan Pablo showed how much he genuinely cares about his guests. In addition to being compassionate, he is both fun and funny! You can tell he really likes hosting guests, and his enthusiasm is contagious. I wish we spoke better spanish so we could have really gotten to know Juan Pablo better, but it was fun communicating throughout our stay (he knows some basic english and we made use of Google Translate often) - he also invited a couple of his english-speaking friends over during our stay (they were just as nice as he is!). As far as the hostel itself goes, the location isn't right in the middle of downtown but we liked the easy short stroll into the city center along the lake each day. Our room and bathroom were very clean when we checked in and were kept clean throughout our stay. We liked the size of the hostel as well - it felt just like a cozy home and we had a great time with the other guests that were staying there at the same time. As others have mentioned, the breakfast was amazing! We heard stories from other travelers we met while in Puerto Varas about their hostel experiences, and we have no doubt that we picked the right place. Would highly recommend it - an absolute highlight of our trip throughout South America!! Hope to come back again someday!!

First off, stop reading and head over to AirBnB to book right this moment! Seriously, it's that great! Since November there's a new manager, Juan Pablo, who is like the grandfather you always wanted: he laughs with you, makes amazing breakfasts (fresh, hot bread, homemade jams, high quality ham and cheese, tea, coffee, juice...), sometimes makes a surprise dinner for you. 

Truly, this was the absolute best place we stayed in all of South America!

Excellent bed and breakfast, it feels like your own house because you are made to feel so welcome by the wonderful host and her family. 

The food is excellent and they frequently hold barbeques and hold dinner parties for the guests - close to the centre of town also.

I would 100% recommend this place as a unique way to experience the hospitality of the southern people of Chile.

I just can recomend you this hostel. The house have everything what you need, as well a great owner - Jessica. It is starting with a great breakfast, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and a lot of space :). We also had a evening with tradional food, wine tastes, chilean bbq and a lot of evenings with long conversations. 
It was a pleasure to stay in this house and really hard to leave.

If you look for a place that gives you the feeling of being at home, then you should go to the Wool and Wood house.

But there are also other reasons:
- outstanding breakfast (fruitsalad, jogurts, warm bread, cheese and ham)
- good beds
- and of course: great staff (Jessica)  who is always interested in you as a person and your needs. And she has a great knowledge about things to do around Puerto Varas.

Location is good, 10-15 mins from Cruz del Sur bus station and also the town centre. Clean, basic, small double room.  Two shared bathrooms - bit of a problem with several rooms using them and in summer the place seemed full. Bathrooms are on the tired side.  Breakfasts: the usual ham, cheese, warm bread, jam, coffee, tea.  The host is helpful, seems to run the place on his own and speaks excellent English having lived in Australia & NZ for many years; he rents the property.
