Golden Boat Guesthouse

This is review for GB 2. Very friendly staff good food and great value. Cute little pool in the lobby which is fun. The rooms had full air-conditioning TV and hot shower. Everything you would need to a shirt trip to Phnom Penh. Very close to market palace museum and most city attractions and my motobike was safe at night which was a concern for me how ever all night security put my mind at ease that even moved it in the lobby for me when I forgot to. Great experience thanks 

I stayed here a couple nights with my cousin and other friend. They both really like the fact that Golden Boat II has a bar inside. Also, the vibe is good inside. Also, they had a big room for a good price because we know the manager.

Best value for money in city!

Fun Location - Fun Place

This review is for sinking sh-... eh Golden Boat II. 

The missus and I had booked another hotel to which a tuk tuk driver wanted to take us for $3. But for $1 he said he'd take us to a better place closer to the bus station. Since we were only going to stay for a night and were leaving by bus, we agreed. A tuk tuk driver wanting less money? We should've known of course. 

This abomination is the worst hotel we stayed in Cambodia. The service is...I can't put it in words. Our bathroom was clean but we may have come on the bimonthly cleaning day. We were feeling a bit itchy the next day though so not too sure about the sheets.

But the location is fantastic. It's near the Sorya bus station, the central market and loads of food stalls. But the location really is the only good thing about this guesthouse.

This review is for Golden Boathouse 2, but I thought I'd post it on here as a number of the other reviews also seem to relate to GBH2. I think they've registered GBH2 on here as Touk Meas 2, but that's only a guess! 

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and wouldn't stay here again. We arrived and were shown a room with a bed, but none of the amenities that been stated on the booking site, for example an in room safe, fridge and free toiletries. When we questioned this we were told there were no free toiletries or safe available, and that to have a room with a fridge would be an extra $5 a night! We argued with him as we had proof on our booking confirmation, and he finally relented and offered us the right room for an extra $3 a night instead, when again we refused (as we'd booked at the price advertised and with the amenities stated) he begrudgingly offered to carry the fridge up the stairs. 

The room itself was old and dirty - I walked into the shower and there was hair all over the walls from the previous occupant! The walls of the room are tiled, and half of them are missing/don't match the rest where patch repair jobs have been done. We were put on the second floor, which to access you had to basically climb up a fire escape, at the top of which was a window which had been smashed and wasn't repaired or even covered for our whole stay there! 

We ended up staying 3 nights before moving to another hotel one road over with a bigger room at a cheaper price. 

Yes the pool is nice, but it isn't much more than a plunge pool, and didn't make up for all the negatives of the place. Unless you're desperate, find somewhere else to stay, there are lots of other hotels and guest houses around for the same price if not cheaper! 

Better places in town

We booked via booking.com. They had no record of this on our arrival & demanded cash up front before seeing the room. (Yes...alarm bells should've rung at this point, but we'd had a long journey and were exhausted). There was no "*city view* as promised, but a cement splattered window 4 inches away from a brick wall so it was like being in a prison cell.  The shower didn't work AT ALL and there was only a cold tap. The windows didn't close, so despite spraying the room and ourselves we were eaten alive the one night we stayed. The *swimming pool* is tiny, like a footbath really, and dirty. The staff are surly and unhelpful and sleep all over the floors and balconys so there's nowhere to escape your prison at any point. You cannot bring any food or drink to your room and there are no facilities on site. There are no towels provided, nor coathangers even.The room was dirty and smelled of wee. It's an absolute hellhole. Building sites all around. Disgusting. We're going to try for a refund, but we're not holding our breath.....

An absolute 5#!T#01E

Don't go there, you definitely find a better place to stay for the same price. During the night a young boy has to look after the reception, our room had no window and for such a room the price to high. The only good point is the location of the accomodation.
