The hotel is centrally located, nice size rooms, clean, with a nice restaraunt at the ground level. Not much English spoken though, only a young girl at the reception was able to aasist us. The absence of elevetor makes it hard to carry luggage.. Good price - service ration.

Central, good restaraunt

Have stayed here several times in the past 5 years and always find it clean and comfortable. We often stay for 3-4 weeks at a time and the housekeeper (who has worked there for years) makes sure fresh towels and bottled water are there when we needed them. Hotel staff are always friendly and make us feel welcome even if our Bulgarian is not so good. Restaurant is one of the best in Blagoevgrad and service is great. Feels like home as much as a hotel can be when you’re travelling. Wifi was free and ok for most things, but sometimes a little slow for any streaming. Recommended!

Very comfortable!

Verry cozy place, excellent food, good service! We were there to celebrate a birthday with our friends, and we had great time because of the tasty food, good quality of the drinks and the carefull attitude of the staff. 

 Good enough for copples, families and friends

If what you're looking for is cheap accommodation for one night, that's fine, but a little more, in your defense you have to visit in low season and they were in the works.

It's a good time to learn.

After a long and somewhat fraught journey, I arrived tired and slightly frazzled in Blagoevgrad. Having been shocked by Sofia and a less than honest taxi driver, I did not have a great first impression of Bulgaria. 

Hotel Cardinal, however, was more to my liking. It's very reasonably priced, the reception staff are friendly, efficient, and speak excellent English. Free, fast, and reliable wifi is available. It's very well located - just across the river from the American University in Bulgaria campus, which is most likely your main reason to visit Blagoevgrad, ten minutes from the bus station, less than five minutes from the surprisingly pleasant pedestrian area. 

There's also a really excellent and incredibly reasonably priced restaurant next door, which I highly recommend. 

If I ever need to go back to Blagoevgrad, I will certainly stay at Hotel Cardinal again.

Great base for AUBG

This hotel offers simple, nice and clean accommodation with a really nice location. English in spoken by most of the staff in reception but not in restaurant at all. Staff members in reception were helpful all the time. Excellent quality for the price paid.

Nice and cheap small hotel

This hotel is in a very convenient location near the dorms and newer buildings of the American University in Bulgaria and the central bazaar. The room we had was at the front, very modern and tasteful, and had a huge bed and balcony. The restaurant on the premises is extremely popular with locals and rather Greek-themed- you don't have to ask for the olive oil like most restaurants in Bulgaria- it's already on the table. Staff are indeed helpful and as others say will let you leave your luggage with no bother. Just a few downsides, though: if you are a really early riser as I am, you won't find the restaurant open or even be able to get a coffee. But no worries- directly across the street is a 24/7 booze, cig and snack shop with excellent espresso.

Hard to do better

It's the closest hotel to the American University. It's 200 meters from the dorm. It's clean and cozy. It's a good restaurant. It's a welcoming hostess and staff. It's a very convenient place to doze with liquid soap and shampoo.

The parents of the students will like...

It's a cozy, family-friendly mini-hotel near the American University in Bulgaria, a 2-minute walk away. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, breakfast is delicious and satisfying. One downside is the lack of an elevator. There are many cafes and shops around. If you're in Blagoevgrad, I recommend staying at this hotel.
