Paraíso Hostel Praia do Rosa

I visited Hostel Praia do Rosa together with my girlfriend, in order to see a whale.(Baleia Franca). [If you look for a whale too, keep on reading this comment.] The hostel was pretty nice. We slept at a double bed room. There is a pool in the middle, a kitchen and a few nice dogs. We visited at the winter time, so It was kind of peaceful. We didn't see many people around the hostel except for the staff. The hostel is somewhat close to the sea, but you have to walk a bit. The best thing about this hostel was the staff. They were really helpful and friendly. They were also able to speak pretty good English. They saved us many times when we were lost in Praia Do Rosa (Our taxi drivers always called them :) ) Be aware that Praia Do Rosa is a pretty disconnected place. The bus to the next big city (Imbituba or Garupaba) shows up every 1-2 hours, if at all. There are no taxis around and There are no ATMs at Praia do Rosa. If you show up in the winter, most likely that nothing will be open. Except for a few people that go to surf, it is pretty much a ghost town. In addition, you don't actually get to see the whales from Praia Do Rosa. We saw them at Imbituba. That said, if you choose to stay at Praia Do Rosa, I think that Praia Do Rosa hostel is your best choice. Another note about the whales: It seems like in recent years (2014-2015) there is a new law in Brazil that you can only watch the whales from the shore, in order to protect the whales. It might change in the future.
