Gästehaus Schranz

Gaestehaus Schranz is a traditional Austrian pension located in the small hamlet of Eggenstall, Sankt Leonhard im Pitztal, Austria. The pension benefits from an ideal location; the bus stops for travel to the Glacier and Rifflsee ski areas, as well as the Hochzeiger resort (in Jerzens), are right outside the property. The accommodation is made up of double (Doppelzimmer) or three person (Dreibettzimmer) rooms, all of which are complete with cable TV, WC/Shower and balcony. Although old-fashioned in terms of décor, the rooms are comfortable, clean and perfectly adequate. The rooms are offered on a bed and breakfast or half board basis* and the food was excellent and plentiful. There is a small wellness/relaxation area located in the basement of the property. The sauna was excellent and there is also an infra-red cabin, loungers and a shower. The ski storage room has a heated boot rack which comes in handy. The owners of the property (Frau/ Herr Schranz) are very friendly and always aiming to please. Most of our dealings were with Frau Schranz, who speaks very little English. However, some German will go a long way to helping make your stay more pleasant (this goes for holidays in this valley in general). She was always very pleased to speak to us and make sure that we were happy. She even prepared breakfast for us slightly earlier than usual on our day of departure due to an early transfer. Wifi is available as a payable extra (€5,00 for 3 days usage) but the signal was weak in the room itself. On the balcony and in the basement of the guest house, the wifi signal was markedly better. All in all, despite a few shortcomings, this property represents an excellent price-quality relationship and, if you have reasonable expectations, you will not be disappointed. *Half board is taken in the "Hotel Haid", right next door to the property and the food is wonderful (well worth the extra)
