98 reviewsWe planned to stay in this hotel as a stopover after exploring the Grossglockner road. It is a bit out of town and at the end of a long drive so you would need a car to reach it, it does have parking around it. The hotel has obviously been called something else in the past and this is why Goggle maps was throwing up a different name, so it might seem confusing. The day we planned the Grossglockner road, it was torrential rain and no visibility so we decided to go and spend the day in the hotel and then try the road the next day. We had booked a small twin room and chatted to the person checking us in about changing our plans and they upgraded us to a beautiful large suite with comfortable double bed, flatscreen TV (didn’t turn it on so don’t know if there were any English channels), sofa, table and large balcony overlooking the mountains (when we could see them) The weather had turned after a heat wave so it was colder and the room was toasty warm. There was no fridge or tea & coffee making facilities (as most Austrian hotels) but there was hot water and a selection of teas in the top floor wellness area The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and lots of room for toiletries, the shower was big as well with great shower pressure The top floor of the hotel is the wellness floor with different saunas, indoor and outdoor lounge area and a fitness room. There is also an outdoor pool but we didn’t use it in the rain. The hotel has a restaurant but it only does breakfast & dinner, we needed lunch as well, but there is a Spar supermarket close by where we picked up some salads and sandwiches for lunch (note all supermarkets close on Sundays in Austria) if you are staying you can put your name on the sheet at reception to book a time for dinner, last food serving is at 8pm but the restaurant and bar are open later. We did eat here and had a lovely dinner, great selection and very tasty. Breakfast the next morning was good with a full selection of hot and cold food We only stayed here one night and didn’t spend time in Lienz so we don’t know how close things are to the hotel, but this hotel had everything we needed for our short stay. The hotel was fantastic and so comfortable, it appears normal at first glance, but if look closely at some of the things on the wall or on the stairs in the bar you see a quirkiness that we loved – we would definitely stay at this hotel again
