It was our first time to Hallstatt, which is filled with day-travelers and there is no parking within the the city so if you get a hotel within the small city - so must park your car in one of the pay-parking city lots and take a shuttle bus to your hotel.  Enter Gastoff Hirlitz - this small penzion is about a 10 minute walk down a path that follows a beautiful clear stream into Hallstatt.  You can park your car right at the hotel and parking is free.  This hotel is charming with lots of character, the ladies that worked the small reception area were very helpful and friendly, and the included breakfast was great with lots of options.  The hotel is also set right next to mountains that run straight up and the views are spectacular.   There is a hiking trail up to a gorgeous waterfall very close by.   I highly recommend this hotel.   If you are a nature lover there are plenty of things to do and see in Hallstatt beyond the gift shops and photos of the lake area - I would recommend spending several days here, you won’t be disappointed!

Charm & Character without the hassle of Hallstatt Parking & Traffic

We loved this little hotel/Gasthof.  It was so adorable.  So quiet. beautiful views off the balcony. Staff were very friendly. Can't wait to go back. I will always stay here when visiting Hallstatt.  It is just a 10 minutes walk from the crazy business.  Great breakfast. Rooms are spacious with great views.  Hiking trail from behind the hotel leads to wonderful falls.

Little secret gem of a hotel

The rooms are cozy and comfortable (small fridge in the junior suite), the breakfast is varied, fresh and good. The big plus is the pool in the garden, after a walk in the Echern Valley a great refreshment. The staff is very kind and committed, always friendly and helpful, we are happy to come back and look forward to the next vacation.

our family with 2 kids stayed in the hotel at the beginning of August 2020. the hotel is very clean, located in a walking distance from the lake and the salt mine and run by a friendly and nice family.
the hotel managed to organize everything  so that guests could enjoy their stay and feel safe during COVID time. swimming pool is a huge advantage during summer holidays especially when the temperature outside was +32° the first week of August. 
we had an incredible stay and highly recommend the hotel.

Family B&B well maintained. Very good reception. Comfortable bed. Not far from the centre of Hallstatt on foot. Various and quite complete breakfast buffet. Good coffee. Sunny and shaded terrace. The interior is a bit old like the bathrooms. Improves soundproofing of the rooms. Medium Wifi. Not really a garden to relax. Room rating: 6.5/10 Breakfast rating: 7.5/10 Overall rating: 7/10

A good opportunity for Hallstatt but requires internal refreshment especially of the SDBs

Away from the crowds you find in Hallstatt but just a short walk to the crowded lakeside which we liked very much.  Actually very convenient to just about everything in Hallstatt.  Nice spacious room.  Public areas very traditionally furnished while the room was newly renovated and modern.  Friendly staff made it it very pleasant.

In Hallstatt without being in Hallstatt

We were in this gasthof in August on the occasion of the visit to the beautiful Hallstatt. The location is about 1 km and a half from the center of the village; but it was pleasant to take the walk along a small river. The room was very large also with a living area, very comfortable. The bathroom is however dated and needs to be renovated. The convenience is given by the free parking of the car, as in the historic center it is impossible to park and in fact you have to go to the pre-arranged parking lots that cost quite a lot a day and are always full for the hordes of Korean tourists who flock to you daily (especially Chinese, Chinese, Japanese).

A pleasant stay

We stayed in this Gasthof at the beginning of August for a short stay in Hallstat. The location of the hotel is a little outside the beautiful Austrian village, but it has a car park, which is not bad given the size of the village and its overlooking position on the lake.

My room was beautifully decorated with a lot of wood, as you would like and imagine in a farming environment in the countryside.

The guesthouse is walking distance (10-15) min from town. It’s a family run place and they are very friendly and do their best to please the guests.
The room was spacious and comfortable with elegant furniture and nice view from the balcony.
Breakfast was good and simple as you would expect from a 3 star rating.
Would defiantly recommend Gasthof Hirlatz and would come back if in Hallstatt again.
