Kurhaus Gastein

We had a big apartment shared between two couples and a baby (the primary reason to stay in an apartment with kitchen) and it worked very well for us. The building is walking distance from a big train lift into the main skiing area and was convenient for our friends to swap the baby sitting. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen/living room. It was spacious, well maintained, very warm and clean and the walls had good noise isolation. The flat was modern and seemed freshly renovated. The supermarket is very close and sells most of the food you'll need during your stay. The kitchen has all necessary utensils, cutlery and crockery (but the pans were a bit of a pain - very sticky). The parking is right by the building and the ski storage room is common for everyone and is located downstairs. It was a bit disappointing that there was no sauna in the property, which is widely available in many Austrian alpine hotels, so we had to pay for the main SPA centre of the town, which is very close to the flat. On a side note, Bad Hofgastein's past as a mining town does show, so it's not the most charming of the alpine resorts, but it's convenient to get to and does the job for a week. Also, we were told that the price would be cheaper if we booked with them directly rather than through booking.com
