The house is nice and largish! Kitchen was excellent – that included the appliances that are in the kitchen. Everything in there was really clean – glasses, cutlery, crockery and even the oven. Benchtops absolutely beautiful as were the cabinets, in both - the kitchen and bathrooms. Plenty of coffee pods with a really good Nespresso machine. Toiletries were also OK. The towels and bed linen and spa were good. The ‘welcome’ bottle of wine and 2 x bottles of spring water were an added bonus – very thoughtful and a nice touch!
Fire wood was well stacked right near the fireplace. Plenty of wildlife right at our door – Kangaroos, Deer and Birds – lovely ‘wildlife experience’!
It is set far back off the road in a very quiet location and therefore really tranquil!
Unfortunately, that is where it ends! Would be a nice place to stay if everything was as expected.
The web page reads: “Bellfield House is part of the exclusive Aurora Cottages property…….. architecturally-designed cottage....... The house offers the ultimate in luxurious indulgence. Bedroom 1 with King Bed and large two person SPA bath. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and Bedroom 3 has two single beds.”
What we would like to know is WHOSE IDEA of luxurious indulgence – MOST CERTAINLY NOT OURS!
I do believe the owner/caretaker are deluding themselves if they believe the house is luxurious!!
1. COBWEBS ON THE CEILING/WALL CORNERS WITH DEAD SPIDERS AND DEAD BUGS EVERYWHERE ON THE FLOOR! A SQUASHED FLY ON THE ROLLER BLIND IN BEDROOM 3! The house was probably pest controlled, BUT WHY WAS IT NOT CLEANED AFTER THAT?
2. King room was OK. Tiny lamp there that did not work!
BEDROOM 2 – QUEEN BED WITH SLATS LAYING ON THE FLOOR – UNDER THE BED RATHER THAN ON THE BASE! No choice but to use a single bed with an uncomfortable mattress! When I sat on the queen bed (not realising there were slats missing) even more slats fell on the floor! (see pics)!
Bedroom 3 looked like an old kitchen & is uncomfortable. Had to use a dining chair as bedside table!
3. WORST ISSUE - 2 hard wired smoke detectors, - only holders – NO SMOKE DETECTORS FITTED! MAJOR SAFETY issue! From my $683 initial payment, $75 was a CLEANING FEE! For what? BEFORE we arrived or AFTER we left? What happened to the $75 paid by previous guests for cleaning? We DID NOT get a CLEAN HOUSE! I sent a text (with photos) to the caretaker (very short time after arrival) and was offered part refund. Will be exceedingly interesting to see how much refund – I believe it should be between $75 – $100 for the inconvenience + DEFINITELY the $75 for the cleaning – totalling between $150 – $200! The ‘Handyman’ who visited the day after I complained, was going to return after we checked out to fix the issues – but if you book make sure you double check everything on arrival! Got back a miserable $100!!!

WORST EVER STAY - AFTER BEING USED TO LUXURIOUS APARTMENTS & HOUSES!

Nice location, and easy check in. Beautiful view of the Grampians. Cottage had all necessary amenities, but lacked basics to make it a true 4.9/5 stars.Pod machine with no coffee pods, no basics in the fridge (only 1/4 bottle of opened milk), no basic bfast supplied. Very untidy outside, gardens and lawn very overgrown and building structure definitely needing some attention. Not sure if I give it much more than a 3/5 considering the price paid.

We stayed for the weekend and really enjoyed the Tranquil location off the Main Highway. We had Kangaroos and Wallabies at our doorstep. The Super Sized Spa in the Six Seasons was wonderful. There was plenty of room and although there were other cottages close by they were far enough apart to have your own privacy and space. The Bacon & Eggs and Real Fresh Ground Coffee was appreciated. The room was well presented and very clean. Thanks for the late checkout! Highly Recommend.

Anniversary Romantic Getaway - 10km from Halls Gap

Everything was perfect getaway for a few days with my partner

Quiet, spacious, luxurious, local wildlife and an awesome coffee machine.

If you’re looking for a secluded, modern(sort of) cottage not too close to Halls Gap, then this might be worth considering.
We stayed in one called “Six seasons” and it is about 100m away from another, similar cottage. On approach you might think that the cottage looks a bit suburban (because it does), it’s not really designed to fit into the landscape but that’s not necessarily important to most people. Personally I see it as a wasted opportunity...
There is a nice little private, covered, rear deck which looks across a grassed area into trees. This is the ideal space to meet the kangaroos which appear particularly in the early mornings and late afternoons. In good weather this deck would be the place to be.
The inside area is huge, with a large kitchen including 2 coffee machines (yes really). There are also 2 spoons, 2 forks, 2 wine glasses....but only one bath robe!
The TV is OK once you work out how to turn everything on, (although the free to air channels had no sound), and the wood combustion heater is great. The bed’s comfortable and the spa is quite large.
But.....the marble floor tiles are cracked in places, the dining chairs (yes, 2 of them) are very uncomfortable and the layout of the cottage is very odd. A lot of empty space. The back of the TV, and all the cables and such, face directly onto the bed, actually blocking the view to the trees. Note that in the photos it seems to be on a swivel, so the TV could be spun 180 degrees, but it’s been screwed into a fixed position.
The problem with this place is that for the price it should be 5 star amazing, but it fails to deliver by getting so many of the little things wrong. Especially considering the location; it’s ok but it’s not terribly convenient, it’s close to the zoo, which is fantastic, but you need to take a 15 minute drive to anywhere else. (Except Red Rock Olives, which is also definitely worth a visit).

Adequate but just a bit disappointing.

Beautiful surrounds, peaceful, secluded and surrounded by the Aussie bush and kangaroos and wallabies.
We stayed in the 6 seasons cottage and it was perfect for us to relax and it had everything we could have wanted or needed. 
Saku was easy to deal with, very thoughtful and accommodating and she even left us some bacon, eggs, milk, bread and juice for breaky.
We will definitely be returning again 😊

Amazing place to stay and forget about life for a while

Dirty, towels and sheets did not look thoroughly cleaned, no guard around fire place, chimney leaked water after rain. Not as luxurious as images make it seem.

Location wonderful. Property not maintained. Second stay in 12months. Dirty floors, broken light in bathroom, skirting boards fallen offf.
