Mitre Suites Hotel

Booked this hotel because, like all travelers, I wanted an inexpensive private room to enjoy Buenos Aires. THE STAFF WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND VERY HELPFUL!!!!!!!!! I had first booked this hotel for 2 nights unsure of what it would be like. The room they gave me was huge. 15 foot ceilings and there was a set of bunk beds and another full size bed in my room. 4 people could have easily slept there with plenty of space to move around. It even had a small balcony overlooking the street. The building was a little old, but so are most of the buildings in the surrounding area so nothing wrong with that. I kinda felt like I was in a Jason Bourne movie :) Breakfast was pretty standard from what I've experienced in hostels in Argentina. Bread, coffee, water and jams. Wish there was real milk to go with that coffee. My only complaint is not the hotel's fault. The bathroom had a small design flaw. It was small, which is ok, but the door to the bathroom opened inwards so it made it a little difficult to use and made it feel even smaller. If they redo the door so it opens outwards or had a sliding door, that would be a simple fix that would greatly improve that small space. Here's where it gets interesting... I was satisfied with the room so I booked 3 more nights. When I woke for breakfast and finished eating, they very politely suggested that I should leave the hotel and go to Downtown Mate Hostel where the exact same type of accommodation would be provided. I was hesitant; however, once the staff assured me that both hotels had the same owner, I decided to take the leap of faith. I immediately packed my bags and walked 2 miles to the other location. GREATEST SUGGESTION EVER! Not only did I get to explore the area around Mitre Suites, but I also got to stay at their other location. It was like getting 2 hotels for the price of one. The ability to see and experience different neighborhoods was well worth the effort and the walk gave me a better understanding of my surroundings. Furthermore, the staff is extremely intelligent and were very attuned to an individual's needs. Even though I was already having a pleasant stay, they knew I would probably like the other location more. They were right! The location around Mitre Suites was still great. Lots of shops and restaurants. Coming from Los Angeles, I love to watch films and one of the best things about Mitre Suites is that it is walking distance from a Cinemark theatre so I was able to see Tomorrowland and observe and enjoy how another culture experiences a film from America. This hotel seems to be more for locals, but they understood my needs without me even telling them and put me in the right place. I do not get that kind of customer service and foresight from expensive hotels back in America. Bravo Mitre Suites! Bravo!
