Twelve of us stayed at the New Inn while on three day golf trip, the staff are friendly and professional the rooms clean and tidy they have a good range of beers that are kept very well, the best thing about the New Inn for me was the amazing food. this was our second stay and we look forward to our next. Highly recommend it.

Food excellent staff fab will definitely be returning the menu was so good I found it hard to choose the starter was amazing main and pudding all really well presented and very enjoyable keep up the good work

Arrived here after having booked a table for 4 people as we were on holiday at warmwell holiday park.
Lovely warm evening on 8th June,had pre-dinner drinks in the lovely garden whilst looking at menu.
All of us had something different from the choices on offer.
Whole evening superb from start to finish.
Staff attentive,drinks good,food superb.

Had a great meal here on Saturday lunchtime. The chicken with black garlic was fantastic. Loads of room. Great staff.  Very friendly and helpful. For a special pub lunch, go here. Dog friendly as well. Good access for wheelchairs.

While working away at a Park Dean lodge park, we discovered The New Inn , about 6 miles from our lodgings. The meals were consistently superb, I tried pretty much everything on the menu and didn't leave any food on my plate. EVER! We must have eaten there 30 times over the 8 week contract and none of our group had a bad meal! 
Highly recommended! 
On a return trip for an overnight stay we stayed at the New Inn's B& B rooms which were extremely comfortable, well appointed and spacious with a power shower .
Also , the staff and locals were friendly, the pool table was 50p a go and the dart board was free. 

I would rate it 6*s if I could !



We stayed here as a family of 3 (2 adults and a 3 year old) for a family wedding in the area. The rooms were lovely, very spacious. The second bedroom was very bright with the ‘exit’ light shining bright green all night, which meant we struggled to sleep, but a lovely breakfast helped massively! Would definitely stay here again if in the area!

Staff change all the time, some where lovely but a couple off-hand. Breakfast was a bit hap hazzard. The full english was well cooked, but had to ask for a rack of toast, which took ages to arrive on one day. Told they had ran out of marmalade on the first morning, however there was still none on day three. The available fresh fruit consisted of sad looking bananas and clementines. The Wifi only worked in the main pub/restaurant, and not in the room.
Meals in the pub were a bit too 'cheffy' and expensive, without any pub classics. Preferred the sister pub down the road 'The Black Dog' for a wider range of meals and better service.
Modern room with a good bathroom. Lovely surrounding countryside and a nice beer garden. Pub itself was roomy and smart.

Nice quiet location in small village with fields behind pub. About 15 mins to Dorchester, and 40 mins drive to Abbotsbury.
Rooms in modern annexe at back of old pub.
Rooms clean, but no heating in bathroom. Decor and amenities very mediocre. Emergency exit light gave off bright green glow all night. After complaining about poor sleep due to the green light the staff did help and managed to turn off light after disturbed first night.
Stayed in 2 rooms with my grown up son, and we both felt rooms overpriced at over £120 each.
Food in restaurant quite good, and staff friendly.

We been for one week in the structure and after we ceck out the hotel charged us for a bedside lamp damaged  that they been thinking it was our fault….absolutely not true…we paid the £30 charge but we never even touched that lamp
So be careful when you check in and double check every single item in the room to avoid surprises after your check out

Very disappointing

What everyone wants in a hotel is really simple. A room description you paid for, clean, comfortable, to be pampered, and a good nights sleep !
I arrived at this hotel at around 4:30pm. I saw a sign that said "reception under archway" so I went under the archway, only to find 2 doors with no entrance, and no signs.   I tried all the doors but they were locked. It was all locked up and nobody was about. 
I called the phone number on the booking form, but was disconnected after about 6 rings. I tried the second extension number only to be greeted with "mailbox full, disconnecting" I rang the main number, 5 times when I was answered by another Hotel taking messages. They said they would try to find someone. I sat in my car. About 30 mins later a young lad turned up, parked his car next to mine, got out looked at me, walked past me and into the Hotel. The lights went on so I went inside. 
The young lad, we shall call him the Assistant Manager, greeted me and asked me to book in. He asked what time i was going to eat breakfast and what time I would eat tonight, both I really didn't know but I wasn't getting away without a time for breakfast. Every other word ended with the word "sir", very annoying after a couple of minutes. I asked if they did room service, "No". Could I take food to the room by myself ? "Yes" he replied.
I went upstairs and my room was like an oven, so i opened my window and turned the room radiator off. I noticed the room was pink ! Instant turnoff, and obviously a girlie decision. The small TV was screwed to the wall, right in the top left hand corner, as high as possible. If you sat on the bed to watch it, your neck would ache. My TV at home sits on a table. There was a kettle and tea bags, etc on a tall table, but there was no electric socket. One wall had been badly marked by a previous stayer. The carpet had not been vacuumed for a while as previous stayers bits were still there. The toilet still had unwashed cleaning fluid and a hair still there.
The toilet rad was so hot you would actually burn yourself if you turned round with no clothes on, but worse, you couldn't turn it off.
There is nowhere to put my suitcase apart from the floor, and there was grey tape holding up the fake wooden ceiling joist.
While waiting for the room to cool down I went to the bar for another round of "sirs". 
The beer was fine, then the young female owner arrived.   The lad was given his duties and she was alone behind the bar. I chatted and it was quiet evident she had not spent time in the Hotel world before. She then spent the next 30 mins with her back to me, and playing with her mobile phone and laptop putting rooms on the internet presumably. Rude !
She took a few phone calls, obviously the phone was now on direct answer, and quoted prices higher than I paid, but this would be embarrassing if the other way around !
I had a few beers then thought I would order some food. The young lad came back and he took my order. "Is it ok to take to my room? " The lad turned to his boss "It's ok for him to eat in his room ?" "Yes, as long as he doesn't throw it all over the floor !" she  replied.
The food arrived. "Do you want a tray?" she said. "No" I replied. "If you like I can carry this up to your room for you". Why don't you do room service then I thought ?
The burger was home made, but not very nice, a strange taste. 
I decided to get into bed and it felt strange. I had booked a double room (Double bed) but they had pushed two single beds together. I was not impressed ! The room was still baking hot due to the fact I would not turn off the hot rad in the bathroom, even with the door closed. I went downstairs and confronted the boss ! She told me to keep the window open all night and turn the fan on, even though the window was right next to the road. I asked them to turn the hot rad water temperature down, or off, and was told they couldn't as it was controlled by a thermostat, which I found funny. Evidentially, all the double rooms have 2 single beds in them. I asked to be put into another room, and was told they were full and that I should go and find another hotel. I was in the middle of nowhere, and she knew I was over the drink drive limit, as she served me beer, so I was not impressed. 
The only thing I could do, was put up with the situation, so i returned to my room, put the bathroom light on which activated the fan. I opened the window, and saw the boss disappear in her new Audi SUV, apparently going home to turn her heating on, leaving all the problems behind her ! A very bad nights sleep followed !
I took a picture of the 2 beds in the morning, by removing bed sheets. I also noticed black hairs on the mattresses. This room had been cleaned, but was not clean at all !
Breakfast was disappointing, the toast came out pre-buttered, and it was melted making the toast soggy. The bacon was smoked, and not my best fan, the scrambled eggs i believe were powdered, as they were bright yellow. The waitress was however, superb ! She should take over the place !
I put all of this down, to a manager that has never worked in a hotel before, and i am sure nobody checks the rooms on a daily basis. It seems that this place is being run as a part time business as nobody is around during the daytime. Shame because it has potential !
