34 Argyle Street Guest House

Best BnB we stayed in on our 12 day trip to Scotland! Barbara was the ultimate hostess. Her made to order breakfast every morning were excellent. The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities you needed. Comfortable common areas and a nice outdoor space for lounging around. The location was excellent. We walked there from the bus station. Stay here if visiting St Andrew’s and you’ll be happy you did, as we are!

My wife and I had another great stay at Number 34 , I’m running out of adjectives to describe this fine establishment, “ Pure Dead Brilliant “ perhaps is very appropriate. Barbara as ever has every detail covered. Great place, wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else in Fife.

Stayed at number 34 for  one night while on a quick visit to St Andrew’s. This accommodation is exceptional in every way. Fantastic location, great bedrooms and beautiful breakfast. We would highly recommended this great house. Thank you Barbara. Caroline and Paul.

The best guest house ever been to ,room beautiful , food good lovely choice ,close to shops and eating out places lots to do in St Andrews,car park near 2 min walk Barbara the owner is lovely person .

My husband and I stayed at 34 Argyle Street Guesthouse for two nights in May 2022 while visiting our son at school. Barbara is a charming and attentive hostess with an eye for decorating.  She lays out a delicious and generous breakfast.  Our room and bathroom were spacious, clean, and well-appointed. We will most certainly try to book 34 Argyle St again the next time we visit St. Andrews.

Clean (spotlessly), convenient and very welcoming. I just enjoyed a very pleasurable week at 34 Arygle and it was a treat. I’ve stayed there many times. The hosts (Barbara and Hugh) are caring and of great help. And breakfast is delicious. Cheers to the hosts for running a very well run Inn.

Hidden treasure and not to be missed. 
Barbara was very welcoming and helpful and our whole experience was so nice that we’ve booked to return again in November. 
We would much rather return here than go to the nearby larger hotels, which we have stayed in many times before. 
Barbara has converted us both and her hospitality is next to none. 
The room and the whole guesthouse was immaculate and the “fine details” were a nice touch. The breakfast was amazing and more than enough for anyone, we didn’t want to leave. 
Really looking forward to returning in November.

Jut back from a 3 night stay at this lovely guesthouse.  Hosts Barbara and Hugh were very helpful both before and during our stay.  Barbara made sure we had everything we needed and cooked us a lovely breakfast each morning which is served in the conservatory.

Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was huge with a separate bath and shower.

There is a separate living room with comfy sofas and tv if you want to relax outside of your room and as a cute little summer house in the garden.

This was our second stay at this guesthouse and we will definitely stay again when next in St Andrews.

I was lucky to stay here (again) just before the world went into a restricted slow motion. Our stay was in early March and I already want to come back. The conditions of the guesthouse, the quality of everything is still up there at the very top of excellence. The rooms, the service, the breakfast, the smiley faces of Hugh and Barbara,  the helpful recommendations for places to eat, things to do etc. This guesthouse heaven is still spotless. When life is back to normal, I will certainly come back. I can't wait!

Return visit to this fantastic B&B. 

The location is so central and the standard of the rooms and breakfast exceed expectations however it is the hosts who make this a true home from home experience.

A dream home away from home

...then improve on that and you come close to 34 Argyle Steet.
Honestly one of the best, quite probably the best in my experience.  As a bonus Barbara and Hugh are lovely and spoil you with a superb breakfast. 
Very easy walk into town if you can bear to leave the, suite? To say 'room' seems inadequate here.
I would not wish to look elsewhere if lucky enough to pop back to St Andrews. We had a lovely visit and managed to park on the road outside. No hesitation at all in recommending this first class accommodation. 

Imagine a perfect B&B

Excellent Location! Excellent Room! Excellent Hosts!  The guesthouse is intimate and very convenient to all of St. Andrews.  The town itself can have an invigorating bustle, yet 34 Argyle is casually cozy and serene while still allowing quick access to wonderful St. Andrews.  Hugh and Barbara are spectacular innkeepers!

Good Life on Argyle Street

This is still my favourite place to stay when going away golfing. Always a warm and welcoming atmosphere, spotless accommodation and the best breakfast in Scotland! Barbara and Hugh are far beyond being the hosts of your dreams. We've stayed there many times over the last five years, and the service is still second to none. My advice; Just try it!

Pure pleasure to stay here!

My daughter and I stayed in the Gleneagles Room for 3 nights at the beginning of October.  Both the room  and bathroom were beautiful!  On the first evening, we took the wine so thoughtfully left for us in the room into the little gazebo in the backyard with its white twinkling lights.  What a lovely way to enjoy a glass of wine! The guest house truly is beautiful, and it is evident that Hugh and Barbara take great pride in making sure each visitor has a lovely stay.  They even provided an early hot breakfast on the last morning of our stay! Prior to arrival, I was very worried about parking, but we did not experience any difficulties parking on the street.

St Andrews Gem

Our third stay with Barbara and Hugh.  We love their impeccable and friendly hospitality.  34 Argyle Street is comfortable, convenient and consistent.  The guest rooms are large and the bathrooms quite luxurious.  The breakfast area fronts on a garden with a fountain visited by a beautiful pair of mallards.  All of St. Andrews awaits a block away.  Hugh knows all of the local golf courses like old friends.  Barbara and Hugh serve the best breakfast I have had.  We hate to leave.  We would not stay anywhere else in St. Andrews.
