Beautiful getaway from it all ,Peaceful. The campsite was beautifully kept , facilities were second to none . Showers and toilets with ample hot water . Fridge usable for campers and a freezer for your freezer packs, kettle toaster and lots of information for local places to visit  . Plug sockets for phone chargers ECT . Elsan disposable , bins and recycling. 
Lovely area for walking and other sports . 


We stayed in The Dainty Den and it was an absolute delight! Super tiny but perfectly appointed. The bed was super comfortable and we slept really well. Judy is a perfect host and showed us all around the campsite and facilities and checked in with us during our stay to check if we needed advice on the local area. It really did feel like staying with friends. I cannot recommend this place enough for a peaceful retreat away from everything.

We came back to Headgate twice in May, both times were really lovely. The campsite is based on a peaceful farm and stud in the heart of Exmoor. You wake up to the sound of hedgerow birds and farm animals and go to bed beneath the starry dark skies, a very peaceful place. It suits couples and solo campers very well, but I could imagine the facilities being put under pressure with a lot of families in high season. There are two main toilets and showers in a nice communal room and an emergency toilet. There is a fridge and a freezer for ice boxes. In April to May the site doesn't get very busy so when we went we had the whole place to ourselves which was lovely but this gorgeous camp deserves more business!

Great little campsite, secluded rural and peaceful. Ideal location for Tarr Steps.

Very clean and tidy, well separated areas. Donkeys a Pony and a Pig to keep kids busy. 

We actually came here back in May 2021 but I owe them a good review!  Peaceful and friendly atmosphere. You wake up to such peaceful sounds, the neighing of horses, the gentle moo's of cows in the hills and even the folorn cry of a peacock somewhere, the hill is nestled into beautiful Exmoor and has very clean well kept toilets and a nice information room set up by the owner. Judy was such a friendly and cheerful hostess who obviously takes pride in her farm, horses and campsite. She came to chat as soon as we pitched up and gave us a wind-break to shield us from the wind. We had a lovely stay and will come back. 
I think this is a great campsite for couples or singletons, its quiet and doesn't have many toilets. We made good friends with the pony, donkeys and the stallion.

Just had the most wonderful stay at Headgate Farm B & B. Lovely quiet location perfect for getting away from it all! 
Really nice room overlooking the countryside and the breakfasts were just amazing! 
Really appreciated the warm welcome from Judith on our arrival with lots of information about the property and also the local area.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to stay around Exmoor. A real gem.

Absolutely superb.  Lovely spot, lovely animals, quiet and well provided for as a basic campsite.  Judy is lovely, Sam the pig is wonderful, as are the horses, donkeys and sheep.  Good shower and facilities.  We will return!

Booked a 5 night camping trip to Headgate Farm.  Loved the site with the horses, ponies, donkeys, chickens, sheep and Sammy the pig.  I would thoroughly recommend a trip here.  All amenities were good.  Jude the owner was lovely and came to introduce herself.  We will definitely book again in the future!

Our room was super included everything we needed, nice to come back from sightseeing and soak in the spa bath. Our hosts Jude & Henry were really friendly and  Jude cooked a fantastic breakfast before we went sightseeing nothing was to much trouble,I would definitely stay there again and recommend Headgate Farm to others

Hubby & I had a wonderful 4 nights away recently  @ Headgate Farm, South Molton - Devon. 
The place itself felt in the middle of nowhere which is what we wanted…. to be able to ‘switch off’ and recharge our batteries! 
The room was well kept, our window overlooked a field of sheep. We went out everyday sight seeing, caution roads to & from location are very narrow but there are the odd  passing places. 
Judy cooked an amazing  breakfast that we enjoyed daily. Came back from our short break fully rested & revitalised- thanks Judy & Henry

Idyllic & peaceful

We stayed for four nights and used Headgate Farm as our base to play golf at Westward Ho, Saunton and Bude.  It wasn’t ‘just a place to stay’ it became our home for the duration of our stay. From the minute you arrive Judy and Henry make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. We spent our evenings in the garden chatting with our hosts and enjoying an occasional* glass of wine.  This is a real working farm, tucked away down a typical Devon lane, easy to find and close to a good choice of pubs just a short drive away. On arrival expect to be greeted by a chorus of bleating sheep a very impressive cockerel, some lovely horses, donkeys and a slightly rotund pig a truly heavenly and peaceful setting. The rooms were very comfortable had everything you could want and more, most importantly they were spotlessly clean and enjoyed views over the adjacent fields. There was a great choice of breakfasts which set us up for a ‘hard’ day on the golf course. Thank you Judy and Henry for making our stay a very special one.

Home from home

We had an excellent seven nights here. The room and especially the bathroom were lovely. Especially loved the jacuzzi bath. Bedding also really lovely. Best of all Jude was an especially warm and friendly hostess. The farm is very remote but an excellent base for exploring the southern end of the moor. All in all we had a terrific week thank you!
