We only stayed for one night during a hike around pen y fan, however were blown away by the quality of the product offered here. Paul and Ros were exceptionally friendly and welcoming hosts, and both the beds and breakfasts were superb! Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay :)

We arrived late, as we drove over from Kent after work on a Thursday night.  Our sat nav directed us to outside the gates. We were given a warm welcome by Paul & Ros. Paul showed us to our room, which was lovely, very cozy with beautiful vaulted and beamed ceilings.  It wasn't long before we fell asleep.
We had pre-booked breakfast for 8.45, which was ready for when we came downstairs.  Lovely home cooked full English, with fresh eggs from their chickens.
Sadly we only stayed one night as we were meeting friends to go camping.  We will definitely be back and hopefully for longer.
The views are to die for! Out of the side window, we had the reservoir and the steam train tracks and the other window was looking up towards the Pen Y Fan.

Run by Lovely people, stunning views and a wonderful breakfast.

This was my first visit and I was very impressed. Charming owners and a very comfortable room. Plenty of local walks and only a short distance to the Pen y Fan horseshoe climb. I would recommend Ty Taf Fechan to anyone.

My wife and I spent a night at this lovely B&B, the hosts Paul and Ros are simply great. The location is a beautiful quiet spot and the place is immaculate. Cannot recommend it highly enough, if ever we travel to anywhere near the area we would defintely stay here.

The B&B is a beautifully renovated chapel overlooking the nearby reservoir and hills.
The hosts, Paul and Ros, are extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgable about the local area.
We stayed in the spacious deluxe room with floor to ceiling arched windows, vaulted ceiling  and ensuite shower room.
Breakfast is pre-ordered the night before from an extensive selection. As a Pescatarian, I was thrilled to see smoked salmon on the menu. I also ordered fresh fruit salad which was equal to a 5 star hotel! My husband's English Breakfast included good quality local sausage and looked of equal standard.
The accommodation is within 5 - 10 minutes walk from the reservoir and both nights we enjoyed a picnic by the shore. For those who would prefer a cooked meal, Paul offers a 'taxi' service for minimal cost.
It's also ideally located for the flagship circular Pen y Fan and Cribbin walk and the waterfall walks.
We have already booked to return and would certainly recommend!

The B&B is unique as it is a nicely restaurated church. The room is quite big with a nice sitting area. The bathroom is smaller but Ok. Breakfast is good. The location is really good if you like rest and nature but you have to have a car as it is really secluded. Because of that there isn't a lot of wifi. The hosts are friendly and helpfull and give you the choice if you want your room cleaned. 

Beautiful location at the edge of a reservoir right near a national park. The hosts were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was very nice and the view from the old church windows in the accommodations is gorgeous. Red Cow in nearby serves excellent pub food. If you can, approach from the north, and take it easy on the unmarked roads, they are very tight and the locals absolutely fly around the corners. It's terrifying!

My husband and I spent a lovely 3 x nights staying in the En-suite Deluxe Room at Ty Taf Fechen.

As mentioned before in other reviews, it is a little hard to find initially if not coming in the way of Paul's very detailed directions, as your Sat Nav directs you to the rough location but then unless you know what you are looking for, you are lost and as there is no mobile phone signal in the area you cannot even call Paul for directions - maybe needs a bigger sign on the road directing people to the B & B.

The area is outstandingly beautiful on two lakes or reservoirs and very remote, ideal for a quiet away from it all break. There is plenty of secure parking in the gated front of the property and Paul comes out to greet you on arrival, in fact Paul is very hospitable and helpful, he explained the breakfast menu and timings and that you can order anything in whatever way you want from the options on the menu as Ros will cook it. He explained the situation with the internet, they do have free Wifi with a good speed, but it is limited, as they only have a certain allocation for the month, Paul asks that you do not use it for playing videos or making face time or skype calls as it will wipe out their whole months allotted limit. 

Paul then showed us to our room, through their own beautiful open plan living room and up the open plan staircase to the landing where the two B & b rooms are situated and the private bathroom for the second room.

Our Deluxe En-Suite room was very beautiful, large and roomy and very clean, large very comfortable bed with electric blanket for the chillier nights. Sitting room area with comfortable sofa and coffee table facing a good size flat screen TV with satellite channels and also overlooking the picturesque view of the garden and beyond to the reservoir through the stained glass original church windows. A lovely vaulted beamed ceiling from the original church, lots of closet space and storage with plenty of drawers. There was a very well stocked hospitality tray, with the usual tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets (various types of tea not just the standard PG Tips) a large bottle of still water and two individual biscuit packs. A T-Towel is supplied along with kitchen roll, spare tissues and a hairdryer in the top drawer of the dresser and lots of brochures and leaflets in the second drawer down. The room and it’s contents are very well thought out, supplying everything you would need for a lovely weekend away, even down to a Halogen Heater for the cooler nights.

The En-Suite Shower room was large and very clean again with plenty of storage to put away or display your toiletries. Shower was hot and powerful, just what you need and they supplied shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the on the wall dispenser.
Two bath towels and one hand towel are provided along with the bath mat, these are in your wardrobe, along with spare blankets.

Breakfast was lovely, a good choice of options and you choose your time and options the night before so it is cooked ready for you when you come down. The eggs were so tasty as they were from their very own chickens on site. Breakfast times between 7.30-9am.

Paul is very informative about the area and gives you good options of where to go and how long roughly it will take you. He directed us to the local two waterfall walk which takes you up past two waterfalls, up the ascending “hill” more like a mountain and not far off the tallest “hill” Pen Y Fan (a few feet off being recognised as a mountain) – in fact that hill is just to the left of you when you reach the summit of this one and walk around the ridge. He told us about a crashed World War Two plane, just off the ridge once you reach the top, which we went looking for and could not initially find as it is not signposted at all. We bumped into the other couple who were staying at the B & B at the same time and who were directed up there as well by Paul and between us we found the remains of the plane and the memorial, well worth the search. From there we could not be bothered walking all the way back around the ridge and back down the hill to the car park, so we just made our way down in to the valley and across and back up through the wood to the car park – very eventful but fun. Paul also gives you information about the best dining options, we tried The Red Cow the first night (good food but lacks atmosphere) and QMin the Indian Restaurant the next night (very nice).
You definitely need a car if staying here due to the remoteness of everything, also the nearest village (not within walking distance) Pontischill only has two pubs and no shops, so if you are planning on going trekking/hiking, make sur you find a shop to buy water as you will need it.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ty Taf Fechen but felt we could not give it the five star Excellent rating (even though the quality of the room deserved it) as there were a few little things that, even though they would not put us off coming back, they stop the B & B achieving an Excellent Score. 

1)	Not sure if this was a mistake or is something that this B & B does, but for the 3 x night stay our rooms were not serviced. This is not a great problem as I always make my own bed and pick up after myself, but things like toilet roll and the hospitality tray were not replenished and the bins not emptied. However when needed I asked Paul for extra milk and hot chocolate and they were readily supplied and we found a spare toilet roll in the bathroom cupboard so thankfully did not run out at the crucial time. The ladies in the other room said their room was not serviced either and they thought it was just them.

2)	Even though Wifi is free and supplied, we are constantly aware of not using it too much or depleting Pauls allowance – our issue not his – but something that could cause other people anxiety in our internet driven world. Also no mobile phone signal is hard as you cannot contact the B 7 b if you were out and needed them, which leads to our next note…

3)	We felt we was intruding on Paul and his wife Ros’s personal time, as when we returned in the evening (no later than 9pm as lets face it there is nothing going on locally), we had to knock to be let in as the door was bolted from the inside (and we couldn’t call them from outside the door, as no mobile phone signal) and then walk up the stairs which are in the open plan living room where Ros is quietly reading. Paul also waits until you are in then locks the front gates, so we feel he has to wait up for us if he needed an early night. Again our issue of uneasiness, not theirs.

Overall we would highly recommend this B & B if you are staying in the Brecon Beacons, very reasonable in cost for what you get, Paul is lovely and Ros cooks wonderful breakfasts and the whole B & B is beautiful and very comfortable. 

Go there you will not be disappointed.
