Really nice inn, 1st time won’t be the last Very clean and staff very friendly Breakfast was the best English breakfast iv ever had5⭐️

We loved the plume of feathers. The rooms were gorgeous, as were the views. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. The breakfast options were really varied, which is rare.

I stay in hotels alot and this hotel is my favourite,  its always a perfect stay. From the moment you check in they are very welcoming and friendly, you have everything you need in your room, the food is amazing and  a very relaxing stay. The ev charging is also a bonus. 10/10

We had a great stay and couldn’t fault it. The accommodation was clean and exceptionally large for a standard room with two dogs. There was a lounge with a large dog bed with clean bedding for them, also a doggy treat bag. The bed was a super king size, bathroom had a stand alone bath and wet room type shower. There was an electric charger for the car and at top of car park large field to walk the dog.
Yes some people might like all you can eat breakfast but we found the service was excellent and freshly cooked, both of us were full up and didn’t eat again until the evening meal.

Excellent service! Spacious, comfy room. I always enjoy staying at the Plume. :)

The pub is delightful with lovely decor. Great location right off the A30. The staff,  particularly the male members of the waiting staff are really professional, knowledgeable and friendly on all three days we stayed. Both managers we met were also very personable and helpful. The room was very clean and very large in size, boutique in style and decor. Huge bathroom with freestanding bath and huge walk in shower . So it should have been perfect right? 

Unfortunately this is where the hotel let itself down:-

There are clearly not enough staff waiting particularly on Saturday night. 
The menu is very samey and not enough choice if you have people staying for more than a couple of nights. We ended up having steak (which was very nice) two nights running because there is so little choice
Breakfast particularly today (Sunday) when most people I would guess want to be served quickly for their onward journey, was disorganised and slow, with the poor very efficient waiter all over the place, while a young girl seemed content to stand and natter to the hotel manager on reception. The manager did give us £10 refund for the long wait to be served though
Again menu great for hot choices but absolutely no continental choice apart from muesli. The tables are often not laid, which resulted in asking for cutlery. No side plates or knives provided for toast. For the standard they obviously want to offer it did fall short
We had a great stay in Cornwall and great weather so that was the bonus.

As a point: We went to the Plume's sister hotel in Newquay for afternoon tea, Lewinnick Lodge.  Whilst the views are amazing, I certainly wouldn't stay there. Huge restaurant which was brash and noisy and clearly there to cater for non residents. Don't waste your money on the extra for the sea view. Afterall you're not in your room all day (normally) and there are so many amazing sea views in Cornwall you can see for free!
Lastly a tip if you want to visit St Ives. DON'T drive there. We caught a train from St Erth (11 minutes with wonderful bay views) and no hassle trying to find somewhere to park. Right in the town so easy. We went in March and it was busy busy. Goodness knows what it's like in the height of the season

Great rooms, great staff....but a few niggles

Excellent pub stay.

Excellent stay at the plume of feathers. Direct booking was easy and the room (Number 10) was outstanding. The reception team and staff were superb, Leanne who looked after us at breakfast this  morning was excellent. We would definitely return if we have the opportunity in the future. Meals in the restaurant were delicious. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had another fantastic stay at the Plume! The staff were incredibly friendly, just like always. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious. I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. We're already looking forward to our return, and next time we'll make sure to stay longer. Our dog loved it too!

Amazing stay

We have stayed at the Plume of Feathers,Mitchell many times .Their standards are all round consistent.Very Dog Friendly,Dog beds provided ,Bowl ,Towels & welcome Dog bag & Sausages for breakfast & plenty of cuddles,All before a lovely run in their onsite field ,What more could a dog want .Dog rooms are to the same good /high standard as the other rooms ( not the case in some other hotels /places ) . We are always welcomed back & Have found all the staff friendly & helpful in every way .Foods /meals are great , Good choices & prices .They should All be very proud of their consistent high standards & Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Cornwall & look forward to another stay with them in the near future . Thank You again for another great stay from us all & our Xena girl 😊😊 ,Keep up all the good work you do 👍

No better place to stay ,When in Cornwall.

We chose to stay here again as another hotel wasnt up to scratch. Ended up booking a room literally thirty minutes before we checked in. Was so glad we could stay again as we had stayed here the night before. Lauren showed up to our room in the torrential rain nothing was too much trouble. The staff are absolutely lovely. Our room was gorgeous room 17 everything we needed. Slept really well the bed was so comfy. Great powerful shower. Fab breakfast to set us up for the day. Will most definitely be returning to stay again soon.

As soon as we stepped through the door we were made to feel so welcome by Dee on reception. We were upgraded to room 6 in the hen house. What a room. Absolutely amazing. Ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing,  The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Great menu and choice of drinks. Comfy bed in our room and the shower was very powerful. Didnt get chance to use the bath but will on our next visit. Breakfast was plentiful,  delicious and of great quality. Set us up for the day. Will definitely be recommending and returning here. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Comfortable stay

I loved the village setting, the peace and quiet, the beautifully modernised bathroom with heated floor tiles!Also I tasted the best meat pie I have ever eaten, followed by the most delicious bread and butter pudding!! Just a few minutes away from the very beautiful and popular Newquay town! I wish we’d had more time to spend there.

After a long drive, a warm welcome at the reception was much appreciated.  After booking in, ensuring my dinner reservation was made, I was shown to my room - and given the lowdown on the room / dinner / breakfast arrangements. 
Room.11 is spacious and airy, with lots of room randomly placing all of my bags, coats, and assorted bits and pieces that accompany for work. 
The large walk-in rainforest shower was most welcome before going down to the restaurant for my meal.
Was given the option of the restaurant or bar to eat (chose the bar) and enjoyed a refreshing Guinness whilst perusing the menu, plus its dog friendly,  so I got to interact with a few of our furry friends, as mine was at home.
Smash burger as a main with sweet potato fries, followed by the bread and butter pudding really hit the spot and set me up for the evening in front of the PC (gotta love an email or two).
Enjoyed quite a good night's sleep - but not entirely,  as I woke up due to the mattress being not to my liking - but then you can't please everyone. 
Breakfast of eggs, royale, coffee, and juice were fantastic, so I couldn't ask for more.
Took advantage of the 11am checkout to catch up on a bit more work before heading off to reception to hand over the key.
Yet again,  a warm welcome and a bit of banter before heading out to continue my day. 
A quick Internet search resulted in finding this gem of a location to stay the night.
If I'm down this way again,  I'll be sure to book in. Thanks again.
