Looks ok from the outside and welcome was friendly. Off street parking but went downhill after that.  Breakfast not included but ad I saw said it was. No lift, fortunately we're fit enough to carry our stuff up a couple of flights.  Tiny room, one of the smallest I've ever spent the night in.  Shower takes an age to get hot water, in fact I though it was broken and told the receptionist.  Sink tap broke next day.  Would not go back

Nice clean hotel. Good level pool table in the attached bar. Right across the road from the local chippy. Room doors swing closed behind you if you’re not careful you’re be locked out your room. Great omelettes. Very comfortable couch in upstairs lounge.

Stayed for one night at the weekend. The room was clean but very dated with 2 different types of carpet patched in. The bed pillows were rock solid and had to sleep on a curled up towel instead. The bathroom was tiny with the vinyl flooring curling up and held down with rusty staples and nails. The door opened inwards too when outwards would be a better option because if you’re a larger person you won’t get to the toilet. If you’re staying in a street facing room during the weekend be prepared to be woken up by people coming home from the pub. The staff all were nice. The only times breakfast get served is 08:30-09:30 which didn’t suit us as we had to leave at 8:00. This wasn’t flexible unfortunately but there’s a COOP a short walk along the high street. The value for money for decent though at £40 compared to the £150+ in Aviemore so cant complain too much.

it's pretty obvious that the hotel has been taken over by a 'Chinese' (we think) owner.  Signs on the inner doors are in English and 'Chinese' we think...
Public bar is the thing that old fashioned films are made of.  Round formica tables that have very definitely seen better days, old red vinyl flooring that has certainly seen some feet over the years.
the lounge bar was not any better really.  Very old padded cushion seating that, in the bay we were sitting in, was coming away from the wall.  We had one pint and left.  Even the beer wasn't very good.  The barman spent his time while we were there, playing cards with two guys who sat in stools at the bar.
A great shame really because the last time we were in this establishment it was an absolute hive of activity with entertainment and a great clientelle that sadly seems to have vanished.
please don't let this put you off visiting kingussie though.  The locals are warm in there welcome and there are a few other really good watering holes in the town.  It also has a fantastic golf course as well so please make sure you go....... just don't come to this hotel as it's not a particularly pleasant place.

Not the most salubrious place

Beer was great and staff very welcoming i will certainly reccomend this place to friends and family.
Also the local people go out of their way to make you feel welcome unlike another so called pub in the area.

Beware they took extra £20 from my bank account without warning me , beware I’m going to report them to the fraud squad, don’t give them your bank details , spoke to someone today and they did k ow about it

If you book this hotel, you can't just expect a Motel-One interface or anything like that. As you can see from the pictures of the previous ones, this is a hotel that's been around for years, and offers rooms for a very low price. Perfect for pushing the price of your own round trip, especially if you're visiting the Isle of Skye, for example, where there are very different prices. It's great for one or two nights, a longer stay, but I wouldn't recommend it because the rooms are very limited. The rooms were very clean and were also cleaned daily.

Company booked this for me.only going to stay for 1 night so even though I read some reviews before my stay there and 99% of them were poor decided I could put up with it,wish i hadn't the whole place is rundown small pokey room with curtains hanging off ,horrible smell of stale food that ensured i wouldn't be hanging around for breakfast in the morning.the tv in my room was tiny box that hummed all night didn't know wether to watch it or cook a burger in it.far to many disappointing places like this in the north of Scotland.avoid

Let down

We were walkups, they accommodated all 3 of us with breakfast all for 52$. It is an un-remodeled hotel from the 70’s. parking was right behind the building, good location in a great town. Road repaving noise all night which was not their fault but was horrible. Great full breakfast 8:30.
