We only stopped on the off chance as we were in the area and needed the loo! (Plus we'd been there 6 years before and loved it)

We sat outside and ate from the bar menu.  OK, not cheap, but I think good value nonetheless.  Great quality food, brilliant service.

You simply MUST have a stroll round the kitchen garden - so abundant and well tended.

Met the Head gardener at Hampton Court flower show on his display garden. Prompted us to book Sunday lunch

Mushroom house, orchard, deer...  Give yourself an hour to mooch slowly before heading inside to the conservatory for a very delicious lunch. Just had one glass of wine superbly matched by the sommelier. Good luck with the rest of your studies. 

We had somewhere else to head onto otherwise we'd have chilled over coffee on the puffy sofas flicking through the in house newsletter.  A perfect Sunday afternoon

Arrived early for a  significant birthday and the reception staff could not have been nicer. We had room 4……spacious and bright. The bar was lively and the English”champagne “ a reasonable price. However the wine list,although comprehensive, was poor value,probably a 4fold mark up. The menu was inventive and slightly “veggie “ leaning but not the worse for that.
 Breakfast was terrific…kippers superb as was smoked trout.
What a beautiful hotel…would retune.

Absolutely perfect! The team at The Pig Bath are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The massage treatment was very relaxing, the food was delicious and the setting and location stunning. Our room was extremely comfortable with some lovely little extras. We can’t wait to return!

The Pig - near Bath

Wanted to stay near the city of Bath and stumbled upon this gem of a place. A beautiful country house converted into a hotel with great outdoors with mature trees and well maintained kitchen garden. A unique experience of seeing herd of deer, pigs, chicken & bees in their natural setting.

Pros 

1. Perfectly located for exploring Bath (25 mins approx), Bristol (30 mins approx) if you have a car. Bruton was also a good find (approx 45 minutes by car) where you can dine At the Chapel and Osip.
2. Great option if anyone is interested in taking a break from the humdrum of city life. In the midst of nature with deer for company. You can even spot the constellations on clear nights. 
3. Nice rooms with comfortable beds (really comfy) & good quality toiletries. With nature as the USP, you see that reflected in their decor from the framed Herbarium sheets adorning the walls, to the drapes. Enjoyed music on Roberts radio.  
4. The restaurant offers a farm to table menu where fresh produce from their own extensive kitchen garden is used in most of the dishes. They have their own poultry & apiary hence fresh eggs and honey is a given. 
5. Their bar is manned by excellent bartenders who serve excellent alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. After morning breakfast you can lounge there for a cup of coffee / tea.       
6. Warm friendly staff and a fantastic housekeeping team who made sure of our comfort throughout the duration of our stay. 
7. A must try flatbreads which is baked fresh in their wood fired oven every afternoon.
8. It is very popular with locals, weekend guests and tourists alike.

Cons

1. As it is popular hence crowded & noisy on weekends. 
2. Very slow service in the dining area on weekends. 
3. No laundry service. If staying for more than 2 - 3 days bring extra change of clothes.
4. No iron / ironing board in the room.
5. Buffet breakfast not part of room packages.
6. No dedicated parking slots for house guests. 

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and am sure the experience will be etched in our memory for years to come. Will surely check out the other PIGs. Thank you so much ‘The Pig team’ for exceptional display of hospitality. Would love to be back.

Stayed here for two nights with family. It was our daughter-in-law's birthday and a few days before their first wedding anniversary.
Hotel team were friendly and considerate. They surprised the couple with an anniversary gift - The Pig Recipe Book. Appropriate as the first year is paper. We were surprised with a celebration glass of mimosa at breakfast.
Our rooms were amazing. Comfy, spacious and exquisitely decorated. We enjoyed dinner on both nights and enjoyed the variety and taste.
The hotel boasts a 25 mile radius for sourcing food. The extensive vegetable garden provides much and it was interesting to tour the grounds and appreciate the stock.
We treated ourselves to a treatment at the Potting Shed. I had a bespoke massage with Freya. It was one of the best I'd experienced.
The hotel is pricey but for a special occasion, well worth it.
We booked through Mr and Mrs Smith where you get a complimentary bottle of Pig wine in your room. It all adds to a memorable experience.

31 years ago we stayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary. The style of the hotel has changed but still a very special place to stay. We enjoyed good food, good cocktails and great service (although not so great re email contact prior to our stay). The room was really lovely (comfy luxe) with a view over the front and parkland & it deer herd. Breakfast was always busy but well serviced with a good selection of  choices and carefully thought out special diet provision. We also enjoyed the well stocked vegetable garden, used by the kitchen, the busy, bar with delicious cocktails and the snooker room. The hotel is close to Bath for a day trip. Would stay here again if visiting the area.

We came to the Pig near bath after Xmas for a couple of nights, we was recommended one of The Pig hotels by a friend who went to the one in Combe but only for dinner and said it was amazing so we decided to give this Pig a go and stay there aswell. I am so glad we decided to do this, it was a good time to go there and we couldn't fault any of it it was the perfect geteaway! We stayed in a 'snug' room which was perfect for us, we also had dinner and breakfast which was just delicious and amazing especially when you know a lot of their ingredients is made in their herb garden! We were so impressed with the food we bought the pink Pig book which has most if their fabulous recipes inside whoch we ate going to try. 
One thing I wanted to point out was at dinner we were given a delicious bread basket which on the table has the pigs own made olive oil with herbs inside and smoked salt that you can add...oh my goodness it was so delicious and another reason why we bought the book however the cherry on top of our stay was the AMAZING receptionist Matt who checked us in, came by one evening and gave us a little something and inside contained their olive oil and the smoked salt! Wow !!! We were incredibly thankful to Matt, even from.the moment we checked in he made us feel right at home, a true asset to The Pig chain! Thank you Matt again for a wonderful stay and for our wonderful gift. 
Even if you don't stay here come for dinner as the food is just amazing! Even the breakfast was delicious and we even got to see deer from.where we sat. We want to thank all the other staff who served us, very professional and again made our stay the best ever. We have decided that we will be vising another Pig hotel for our anniversary in the summer. Also to add the Pig hotel near bath only 20 minutes away from Bath so make sure to visit there during your stay.

We went to The Pig near Bath and spent three nights there over Christmas 2022. From the moment you check in you know you are in for an enjoyable time.

We had booked into The Hide which is separate from the main house, through their kitchen garden and overlooking a deer park, it has a cosy wood burning stove, a huge shower and bath, a lovely comfortable bed, and all the mod cons you could wish for. It’s like a two storey potting shed with knobs on, someone has spent a lot of time imagining guests staying there.

Our over-riding memory of our stay though was the quality of all the staff and their obviously good training - a mixture of efficiency and friendly helpfulness. As we left for breakfast on Christmas morning we were delighted to find Santa had left a beautiful hamper at our front door.  This had been created by the various teams within The Pig - gardeners, kitchen, bar, maintenance, spa etc. etc.  
Throughout the hotel there was a warm atmosphere of families in huddles around open fires. Dining at The Pig was superb with it's very imaginative menu options and generous portions as always.  

We lost count of all the staff members we would like to praise and thank, but in the end there were just too many to name individually.

We had previously stayed at the Pig in the New forest and were very impressed in the whole concept and quality of the grounds and accommodation. This property also is outstanding, the staff very welcoming and accommodating and determined to make your stay as perfect as possible. We were given a newly re-furbished room, number 18, which was large and very tastefully decorated, in fact we were asked to give a critique of the wallpaper and curtains! The room looked out onto the gardens and a field containing deer, a very pleasant and rural scene. The food reflects the fact that everything is either grown on the premises or comes within a short radius of the property, it's well put together, we had two evening meals and were not disappointed. The location is superb as it is only a short drive from Bath and enables you to visit this very impressive town and surrounding area.

Perfect……well almost

Yet another fantastic stay at the Pig.

The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful in all aspects of the hotel. 
The rooms were immaculate as always and the log fire was a dream.

Could not fault the restaurant and also the staff associated with it.
One negative, on arrival at 1PM we  were hoping to enjoy a light lunch as we had dinner booked in the evening but were informed there was no bar food available until 3PM although other guests were being served sandwiches.This was because they
had preordered which obviously we could not have done.Maybe you could look at this.

Cannot wait for our next trip to Coombe in May.

However,I would like to air some constructive criticism with regard to the parking.
When we arrived there was no parking available, we had to park on a muddy grass verge. It later came to light that there is a very reasonably priced lunch on at the moment, this was causing the full car park.
Also, the car park was extremely wet and muddy which made it very hard to negotiate.
In conclusion, I would ask that the size of the car park looked at for the future and whilst agreeing you cannot be responsible for our weather you could look at the make up of the car park.
