Fantastic place. Comfortable and clean rooms and amazingly attentive and helpful staff.
Great breakfasts. 
helpful with local information of where to go and how to get there quickest way. 
Outside car parking was added bonus too. 


Lovely weekend stay. My husband booked for our wedding anniversay. No complaints at all, location was super convenient but set back from the noisy part of town, so peaceful. The room was massive and beautifully decorated. The hosts were friendly, attentive and accomodating. Quality Breakfast,  delicious locally sourced ingredients. If we we're visiting the area again, this will be our top choice to book again.

Although Bournemouth is a big, noisy and restless town, you'll find plenty of peace and quiet in Southbourne at Alexander Lodge. Andi and James are very friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice, comfy beds and a delicious breakfast in a lovely room. 2 Minutes in one direction is the sea and long beach and 2 minutes in the other direction is a main road where there are restaurants, supermarkets and a petrol station. So it's a great location.

If you want a bed and breakfast that ticks all the boxes then look no further than Alexander Lodge. Wonderful food and wonderful bedrooms and wonderful hosts in Andi and James. Will certainly be there for my eighty first. All being well 😊.

Andi and James, a lovely husband and wife duo, made us feel extremely welcomed. Home from home. Andi, during the Bank Holiday weekend managed to secure a further two days for us, because of a cancellation. The decor of the lodge is exquisite and extremely clean here. Pre order breakfast, giving huge variety of choice prepared by James was delicious.  Andi recommended a place to visit eg, The Emporium - Christchurch. Stayed hours revisiting encounters of our past ie, mini corgi cars to vintage clothing. Thank you Andi and James. Highly recommended.

We booked Alexander lodge for 2 nights 
To mix a little business with pleasure.
It was close to my training venue , close to the sea and many bars / restaurants.
On Arrival we were greeted by the host and taken to our room, she even offered to make us a hot drink which I though was so kind and thoughtful.  Nothing was too much trouble x
The B&B is beautiful, it has a warm homely feel and our room was cosy with everything we needed including high quality shampoo and body wash.
Breakfast was delicious and very organised with a pre order the night before.
A great selection of fruit , cereal, yoghurts , juice etc which can then be followed by a cooked breakfast.

We recently stayed 2 nights at Alexander Lodge with our son whilst visiting Bournemouth University open day. From my initial contact with Andi over email through to the end of our stay we couldn't fault a thing! 

The B&B is in a perfect location a few minutes walk from the seafront in one directions and shops and restaurants in the other. We had a lovely walk along the front on the Friday after arrival which was just what we needed after a long car journey.

On the 1st night we ate at a local Brasserie called Dicky's. We would highly recommend this restaurant, lovely food and only a short walk from Alexander Lodge.

Andi and James have really thought of everything, and alongside everything you need they've also added nice touches. Little sweets on our towels, fresh water bought to our room, fresh milk, a small fridge you can leave your own drinks in etc.

Our room was lovely and spacious even with 3 of us in. We also had a lovely big bathroom with a nice big walk in shower and complimentary toiletries.They even have an electric toothbrush charge point (something we made full use of!) Beds lovely and comfy (you can tell the mattress is a good quality one) and plenty of storage space for your things.

Cooked breakfast is ordered the night before, a system that works really well. Breakfasts were in a nice, airy breakfast room and the food was delicious. My husband had a cooked breakfast and said how tasty and fresh all the food was (compliments to chef James!) while my son and I had fruit, toast, yoghurt etc. All fresh, all very tasty. They are also cereals and fruit/herbal teabags.

Andi and James are the perfect hosts, very friendly, helpful and natural B&B owners. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it felt like coming home each day, really comfortable and homely.

We wish them every success for the future and if our son ends up at Bournemouth University we will definately be back!

Great vibe, clean and comfy..

I've just completed my third stay here and everything about this place is exceptionally good. I appreciate the efforts the owners to make their guest house as sustainable as possible without cutting corners on quality and comfort.

I reserve a final special mention for the breakfast - James cooks a splendid poached egg!

We visit Bournemouth several times a year and Alexander Lodge is our first choice. Beautiful room, warmest of welcomes and great breakfast (especially homemade hash browns). Alexander Lodge is an easy, flat walk to the high street in one direction and seafront in the other.

We spent a night at Alexander Lodge recently and I have joined Tripadvisor especially to be able to leave a review for this wonderful B&B.  We were allocated a lovely room with an ensuite (including a power shower which is important to me!).  The bed was very comfortable and after a great nights' sleep we were treated to a delicious breakfast, with locally sourced bacon and sausages, and a melt in the mouth croissant.  I would definitely recommend a stay here!

We stayed at the lovely Alexander Lodge for a 5 day break and felt we had to put a review on here about how brilliant the accommodation was.

 Situated in the lovely Southborne a great base for the beach and some fantastic shops, bars and restaurants.

Andi, James and their daughter were brilliant, and very friendly. Breakfast was really nice and set us up for the day!

This was much better than staying at a hotel.

The room was lovely and homely and made our holiday all that more special!

We will definitely be back again real soon!

Wonderful Guest House and Owners

We used to stay in and around Bournemouth quite often and returned this year after an absence . The Alexander Lodge has been the best all round accommodation we have stayed in yet. Clean, tidy, comfortable and a great location for the beach. Well done to all those involved in making this a deservedly highly rated establishment.

Perfect place to stay

Just back from a fantastic couple of days staying at Alexander Lodge and I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Andi and James have created the perfect home from home - comfortable rooms, great breakfast and very friendly and helpful service. 

The property is ideally located within a short walk of the beach and was absolutely ideal for our group stay/exclusive use break.
