A great room for 6 people. Clean. Good shower and toilets. Great location next to mountains and pubs.

I usually stay on the campsite or at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel when in Great Langdale. But with it being December, a tad chilly for camping and also the ODG hotel shut for Xmas, I gave this place a try.

I had thoroughly read the website and knew what to expect. It was as described but I couldn't help being really pleased at how warm it was. There was a major wind storm outside and I slept through much of it, in total warmth and peace and quiet.

If you are just looking for somewhere warm to get your head down whilst exploring the beautiful Great Langdale, I highly recommend this place.

Me and my partner were so so grateful for Vicki's hospitality. We'd been staying at Great Langdale campsite when a storm hit and our tent didn't hold up against the rain. We had gone to the local pub to see if there would be any rooms on the off chance but with it being Summer and very last minute, they couldn't accommodate. The pub's maintenance man quickly got in touch with Vicki who kindly got us sorted with an available space in the bunk house. We were so grateful to have a clean room, with lovely powerful warm showers and a bed to rest our heads. Easy access and prompt communication made it super smooth for us to get into the bunk house and get dry and rested. We would definitely stay again. 

This bunk house is ideally situated for walkers, its basic but has what you need. The hotel near by the food is amazing, staff lovely and dog friendly

This was perfect for a base to explore. Very clean and comfortable. A bed and somewhere to shower. A kettle for a quick cuppa and then you are good to go!

Does exactly what is says on the tin, and does it well.

Clean, comfy and great location.

Only negative was lack of parking, but we didn’t really struggle as parked in pub car park which they were fine with as we ate there at night.

Stayed at bunkhouse for mountain biking weekend.
As specified on the website, the facilities are basic but were ideal for our needs, the showers/toilets were clean and pleasant. The real jewel however is the location, perfectly situated for all manner of activities, and stickle barn/ NDG right next door.
I have seen comments criticising the bunkbarn because it is so basic, there are plenty of far more elaborate places to stay nearby if that’s what you require, but if you want somewhere inexpensive, right in the heart of the mountains, you can’t go wrong with great Langdale bunkhouse.

We booked last minute when the rain started coming down so happy to have a dry comfortable night! Rooms are quite tight but they’re designed for sleep rather than spending time in during the day!

Vicky was very helpful in accommodating us, resulting in a very pleasant stay. Comfortable beds and very cosy room, having a fridge and kettle also a bonus. 3 pubs in close proximity a plus, the manager at Slanty Lees is an excellent singer. The only recommendation (hard to work round) would be to have a drying room and some more hanging space. Did I notice a planning application to build some more amenities?

We booked this bunkhouse for a trip to Scaffell Pike in Early October 2023 we had 6 of us in one room on 3 bunkbeds. The arrival was planned and door code and room code sent prior to arrival. There was a small fridge in the room which was great. Wash room was clean and tidy however would have been better with hand dryer as water just went all over the floor. Additional towel rail or small shelf would be helpful in shower room. The accommodation was well heated and no issues with drying wet clothes. Additional lighting outside main door would have been helpful, maybe sensor light.

Very well located in Great Langdale. Warm place. Very small room, but that was ok & acceptable. Great 2 head showers. Very, very Covid compliant. Especially liked the hand sanitiser OUTSIDE before you use the door key pad. Improvements:Needs separate recycling box(s) and not just 1 rubbish bin.Discussing the booking was hard  as I didn't get reply to answerphone messages until several days later.overall Excellent, and thx 4 discount for long term stay.

Great Bunkhouse Hostel type accommodation :

Location, location, location; the saving grace for this bunkhouse. 
Clean with plenty of hot water in the showers, but you’re squeezed in like sardines in the bigger rooms with no space to even hang your (inevitably wet) coat up.
Two great pubs right outside though, so if you just want somewhere warm and dry to crash, it’s perfect.
Oh and dog friendly too. 👍

Functional rather than comfortable.

This Bunkbarn is just bedrooms, bathrooms and showers with no communal areas but it’s just been refurbished to a good standard, we were the first to use it since its refurb. There were 5 of us in a 6 berth room and the beds were nice and comfy. Bedding is provided.

Two pubs right next door and Langdale is a fantastic spot. We hiked Crinkle Crags & Bowfell and a superb weekend.
