I spent my last two nights of my birding safari at this lodge; and what a splendid place to end my trip.  The first thing I noted about the lodge on arrival, were the beautiful terraced gardens.  The lodge is on elevated ground and overlooks the Bwindi Forest.  The open reception area is absolutely beautiful, and I loved sitting there and listening and watching an array of different birds (the Ross's Turaco "resident" couple that I watched perch up on the trees, or take shade in the leafy hedge, were an absolute bonus).  In the evenings, fires were lit strategically in the four corners, and next to two of the outside dining tables.  What struck me about the place was the tranquility, which I welcomed after returning from a tiring session of birdwatching.  The rooms were clean and spacious, with a wonderful large shower with functioning hot and cold water.  There was bottled water provided, and what I particularly appreciated, was the mosquito net that was drawn across the room, rather than some of the suffocating types I have experienced in some other lodges that hang over your bed.  Local beer, house wine, and soft drinks were included.  The staff was very friendly and never failed to take care of me.  It was definitely 'service with a smile'.  Special mention is  made here of Ignatius and Immaculate (Immaculate also does the massage), who were exceptional, and multitasked with ease.  Not to be omitted is Ronald, who I will call the 5* Chef!  The food was outstanding, and of a standard I could compare to many 5* hotels I have stayed in around the world!  He always came to discuss the menu and adjusted it if necessary.  He kindly offered to make local food on the last night, which I appreciated very much.   I would not hesitate to recommend this lodge, and will surely return in the future!  Bravo!!

A Sense of Paradise

An wonderful lodge and outstanding starting point for Gorilla tracking. Staff, service and kitchen are great. The terrasse is heated by charcoal stoves at the evening, during dinner the rooms are prepared fore night sleep (mosquito nets, spry). Ant water bottle is lovingly placed in the bed. The massages offered can be highly recommended.

Oasis in the jungle

Fantastic place to stay for visiting to the gorillas. Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. The room had a mosquito net across the room rather than just surrounding the bed. The bathroom was good and there was plenty of hot water. There we're chairs outside the room from where you could savour the amazing view across the hills. There was internet at reception and a slightly slower speed in the rooms.

Gorilla trekking

Beautiful lodge, set across from the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Can bear the gorillas at night and early morning. 

Amazing scenery, have to be there to experience it. 

Phil and his team were amazing, looked after us well. We were a big group (13) and luckily there were no other guests, so we literally took over the whole lodge. 

We had some amazing food.  Post our gorilla trek all we wanted to do was chill and drink, but got a bit peckish, I asked for some crisps, all they said was yes. After about 10 minutes, there was no sign of them - I was expecting them to just tear open a bag of crisps  and so we gave up.  After a while, Rose came out with freshly made crisps that were still warm, wow! We were all so impressed.  Thank you for your amazing hospitality. 



Great Gorilla trekking base 

We stayed 3 nights in this lovely lodge with an amazing view of the Bwindi forest. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and nice shower. Hot water and electricity was available 24 hrs. We also got a hot water bottle for the cold nights. The manager, Phil, and the whole staff were so friendly. The food was the best we had in our 2 week east Africa trip. Thanks to the amazing chef, we were looking forward to lunch and dinner every day to taste a new delicious food. Also, water, tea, beer, local wine, and local gin were also included and were served in a nice setting in the hotel balcony, while we were enjoying the Bwindi beauty and the burning charcoal fire. The hotel and service quality was far beyond our expectations in such a remote area. We highly recommend Silverback Lodge and will definitely come back.

Wonderful stay! Friendly staff and the food was incredible. We would definitely recommend this to somebody who wants a great food experience and nice accommodation while visiting the gorillas!
