Me and my colleagues stopped by for lunch at samanala hotel. There was barely anyone.A lady whom i believe the owner, was very welcoming. The food was generous in portions and good. We tried chicken  fried rice and their devilled chicken. There was  ample parking and the service offered was excellent. Highly recommended for anyone travelling through Nochchiyagama

A group of 4 friends booked this hotel for a period of 2 nights during our visit to Wilpattu national park.

Firstly, the wilpattu national park is about 12km away from the hotel, so its about a 15-20 minute drive to the park entrance. 

Our group arrived at the hotel in two groups, the party who booked the hotel came in two hours after the first. Yet the management was kind enough to let the first group check in, arranged welcome drinks and the formalities followed.

The management took good care of us and catered to almost all our requests, including giving us the wake up vall at 4.30am with bed tea and providing us with packed breakfast and lunch by 5.30am for it to be taken with us into the wilpattu national park, as we were doing a full day safari from 6am - 6pm.

The room was a little small but clean and well lit and the toilets were clean. The size of the room didnt matter much coz all we wanted to do after a tired day at safari was have a dip in the pool and hit the sack.

The food was mostly local dishes but was nice and clean and warm when it was served.
The management and the service staff was friendly and extremely helpful. They even went out of their way to get chipped ice for our ice boxes, from Anuradhapura a town 30km away.

The pool was medium sized, seemed clean from the outside, but they have used too much chlorine for pool cleaning. So much so that the extra residue had sunk to the bottom of the pool and when u try to walk on the layer of the chlorine residue, it was very slimy and slippery. This is the only reason why I am unable to give this hotel a 5 star rating. I hope they can correct the minor issues and continue with this place in future and I wish them all the best.

Excellent and value for money

Great Little Hotel

Stayed here as a last minute decision having been let down by tree house wilaputtu. Clearly of former grandeur. The external appearance belies the internal reality.
Our room downstairs at back was basic and tired but clean floor, working air con, fan and tv.  Bathroom door old bent metal frame that didn’t close with fire door hinges maximising noise on opening and closing ( as far as did). Hot water but shower very close to toilet. Shower curtain on request. Peeping tom through the window- disconcerting- staff apologetic. Pool had yellow debris which looked like soggy biscuit floating in the opaque blue water. The walls of pool and jacuzzi needed a good scrub. The many staff tried hard to sort the various issues out but obvious years of decay and poor management are difficult to hide. We were grateful for an omelette for dinner when there didn’t seem to be anywhere around to have something to eat.  The kindly staff genuinely trying to accommodate us tourists.

Very good place to stop over for a meal break,very friendly front staff,first impression is excellent,Very pleasant welcome by the manager I guess,good communication skills in English & sinhala with a customer to say their facilities..Their food is value for money,tasty sri lankan touch.

We enjoy our brief stay at the hotel & hope to come back for a night out.I recommend any guest go & experience the best quality food & drinks you name it they will try to make it happen its managers & staff effort is remarkable

We stayed here for one night after Safari, the hotel looks nice from outside, but this was only the first impression, the room equipment is okay including a modern A/C but cleaning is worse, never seen such a badly cleaned bathroom at all, we needed to force for towels, blanket otherwise nothing. The price is low but you have to be really strong to overlook the dirty bathroom. And really bad breakfast too, very disappointing impression overall finally. So look for other opportunities and only if nothing else available than choose this one and carefully check the room and force the staff, which is at least friendly 

Nice location to the park but real bad shape

Stayed there for two nights in order to do a full day safari in Wilpattu.   Place is set up for primarily weddings and banquets.   Staff who happened to be around were polite enough but the food and service is some of the worst I have seen.  Was Ok just for a place to crash but don't expect much else.  Place has potential in the right hands.

Looks are decieving

DO NOT GO HERE. The place is unclean and unkempt. We went to use the pool which was green. When we pointed it out he asked the guy to come and clean the leaves out. Hmm it was a bit more than that. They seem to have no idea. I would give it a big miss. It’s also in the middle of nowhere. It’s no resort.
