Pension El Pirineo

Living on the coast in the summer can have its testing moments so we decided to escape for just one night and chose the Pension El Pirineo, just about an hour's drive into the mountains from our house. After a very warm welcome in reception, we were checked in very quickly and dumped our bags into our room, a spacious double with en-suite and a large terrace overlooking the mountains which probably could do with some modernisation but was perfectly acceptable for a stay. We enjoyed some drinks in the bar area before taking advantage of the swimming pool in the early evening, busy with other guests but not packed. Our evening meal was superb, a great value-for-money menu (I chose ribs, the wife chose lamb) and filled us up so much that we almost had to turn down the dessert. After a splendid night's sleep on one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had the pleasure of laying on, we enjoyed one last dip in the swimming pool under the morning sun before heading back to the madness of the coast with a cheer farewell and encourage to "come back soon" from the owner. And we will. A great option for a short weekend break.
