Nice location but the owner is very rude.  The rooms are not as they look in the pictures, an unkempt location, you are monitored non-stop with cameras installed inside, the owner enters the house over you to check you to see what you are doing and if it is clean, if you have washed the dishes, glasses, forks.  Do not send money to his personal account in advance because he will ask for double when you get to the place!!!!

Avoid this place

a lovely place

I stayed for 1 night, and work up feeling like I hadn't slept a wink, mostly due to dogs barking and howling all night long.  Whether this is a problem with the pension, Horezu in general or just one troublesome dog, I have no idea.  The owner/prop doesn't appear to live on premises - I had to call him to check in and then call him the next morning to check out and pay - so I doubt he was aware of any issues.  There was no 'how was your stay' the next morning either, so I could let him know.  Just a request for the money and a hearty handshake.

Apart from that, it's a nice place, the garden is a nice touch with a BBQ pit and a roaming deer, and I'm sure it's a hit with the families and elderly I saw in the other rooms.  

The location isn't bad, although you'll need a car to view most of Horezu's sights.  However, at the end of the road, I found a decent supermarket and some decent roadside shops selling Horezu pottery, which is all I really needed.

Not a great experience, but might have been unlucky

In the hot summer when you want to relax after Transalpina or visiting nearby caves was the perfect place with a beautiful and nice arranged yard where Iris the dear was playing around and children could run and play with. Two temporary guests -2 baby owl were the attraction of everyone.

Warm hosts and very nice yard

We spent 1 night in Horezu at Andra's House. The pension might be tricky to find since there are trees in front and the street number is not easily visible, but once you find it you will not be disappointed. we were welcomed by the nice host, an elderly lady that was the owner's mother and was in charge of the place while the owners were on a short holiday. Very nice lady who tried her best to make our short stay a nice one. The room was on the ground floor in the secondary building, a room nicely decorated in a rustic style. the room had all the necessary amenities and even a small kitchenette, so it could be a suitable choice for a long stay. the bathroom seemed rather small but apart from that, the room was spotless. there is a large backyard, with chicken, peacocks and rabbits at the back of the court, and nice lounge chairs, chaise longues for a relaxing evening in the yard. there is also a ping pong table which we tried. we were also lucky to play with the 2 dogs in the yard, small young one very energetic and a large older one. the breakfast was tasty, made mostly with homemade ingredients. there is wifi in the rooms, but the signal in our room could have been better. we really liked the place and would have given 5 stars rating for the review, if it wasn't for the fact that they advertise having a functional sauna, which seemed not to be the case (when we asked about the sauna the answer was that the space is used as a storage space so the sauna could not be used). would recommend removing the info about the sauna when it is not available. could be a nice place for a relaxing holiday.

Rustic accommodation in Horezu

We made a trip to see Romania's Transfagarasan and Transalpina. We were staying only a night in Horezu and we made reservations elsewhere but we were late and they gave one of the rooms 5 minute before we arrived. We found this place quick on booking.com and went to see it. The place was beautiful, clean and the owner was just lovely. We spend a wonderful night there and I am certain that if we end up again in Horezu will definitely go there again.

A happy alternative

Pension has two separate buildings with large and nicely refurbished rooms. The yard is ideal for children and barbecues. The deer, the friendly dog, and the plum brandy are bonuses:)  Kind hosts. The area is limited to couple of monasteries, a salt mine (Ocnele Mari) and a cave (Polovragi). Average food. A silent, relaxing, comfortable location!!

A relaxing destination for family with kids and /or group of friends

We stayed for 2 nights with my little daughter (6 y) and we like the place very much. It's quiet and a nice place where you can relax. They have a baby deer and it was a very wonderful surprise for our daughter to play with it. It was very friendly.

Nice place to stay and to relax

The rooms are huge and are decorated with nice paintings and all the furniture is quality build and of hardwood. The food was amazing and cheap and the garden was quiet and filled with all kinds of pets like rabbits, chicken, peacoks, dogs and a small deer. The owner are really good folks and the coffee and tuica are on the house. I hardly recommend it to anyone passing through Horezu.
