Base Hostel Old San Juan

This is the most perfect hostel to suit the vibe of Old San Juan. The whole place is totally eclectic and bohemian with huge communal spaces in an old building. The amenities are very simple- dorm rooms are VERY tiny (I did see the private rooms which are huge and would opt for that next time- or the alternative treehouse accommodation), lockers in the hall, water pressure in the showers is sometimes just a drip, and the appliances in the kitchen are old-fashioned (portable burners and an old metal coffee contraption that Gladys helped me with- there is a mini fridge and microwave though as well), but none of that was why we chose the place. The atmosphere is so awesome and everything I was looking for! It's a great place to socialize and go out to party being in the middle of Old San Juan with bars right outside the front door. Jose welcomed us like friends right off the bat (he will give you his number to contact him if you need anything), and Joe and J.R. who live and work there are both fantastic guys. A bunch of us had a great couple nights all hanging out. I absolutely felt at home and would return in a heartbeat when I get the chance to come back to Puerto Rico.
