I saw good and bad opinions about this place, so I was convinced by the promotion that they were offering 50% off; at first I had my doubts; but on entering the Hotel it feels a warm atmosphere; the Owner Freddy; it's very friendly and helpful, they helped us with the luggage, offered to print our tickets, we went to the other room, the bed is large and everything was clean and fresh, there is hot water all the time of course that you have to wait like a minute, but everything else was fine, the breakfast is basic, it could be improved but I imagine it's for the price, the wifi is not, but it works.

It could be improved.

This seudohostal doesn't match what is offered on the page, nothing they put on the Internet is real. The room that was offered to us on the first floor with a smell of terrible humidity, the depressing bathroom with a hole in the wall I think does the function of ventilation and no hot water. The curtains don't cover the window so you can see the hotel room across the street. You pay for a breakfast that they ultimately tell you is a snack. 2 barrels of cereal, a banana, a cookie and a valley toy. That's the breakfast I ordered hot water for a tea and that they didn't have.

It's the worst place.

So this place is rather no frills.

We arrived in Aguas Calientes with torrential rain, which caused the entire town's electricity to go out. Navigating our way through the wet streets in the dark, we finally managed to make it to Hostal Pakarina (note, the sign is difficult to notice and we walked past it the first time we tried to find it).

We were given our key, a candle (because there was no electricity) and made our way to our room, which was on the second floor and overlooked the street.

The room was clean, with clean linen. As soon as we entered the room the power came back on. Charging our phones then became an issue because all of the power outlets were located high up the wall and the ones next to the bed weren't in the best condition and I didn't want to risk electrocuting myself! The WiFi, whilst slow, worked fine.

The windows didn't lock (and didn't seem that secure). The bathroom was large (although there was mould) and the shower was hot. 

I didn't sleep too well (pretty much because I was worried about missing my phone alarm with minimal battery left to get the bus to Machu Picchu in the morning).

Breakfast included juice, coffee and pastries and fruit. It was completely fine for the morning ahead.

A good clean, updating the decor would make this place a lot better. However for the price, you can't really complain. Whilst personally I probably won't stay here again - it's completely fine if you're just looking for a cheap place to rest your head for one night before going to Machu Picchu.

Basic & Needs Work

Horrible experience! the only good thing about this place is the nice owners and workers. Was given room 301 which was full of mold and holes in the wall, there was also a hole in the bathroom from which you can see into someone else's bathroom. Walls were also paper thin. Asked to switch rooms because the outlets did not work. Daniel, one of the workers was kind enough to provide me with different chargers and switched my room to 201. This room appeared more clean, but the nightmare got worse! The water from the sink and shower was dirty and brown. we had to go across the store and buy water bottles to brush our teeth and wash our hands. Spent a night here to go to Machu Picchu the next morning and would have never stayed here again. Didn't sleep the entire night.

Dirty

I really liked staying at the hostel because the bed was comfortable and the attention was good. We won a very nice llama present. My suggestion for the hostel is to improve security because after cleaning the room, I found the door open and my pizza that was in the room had disappeared.

Simple and comfortable.

We had some time to spare before our train, and walking back from the Hot Springs we were sold the bill of goods that we could get 4 drinks for the price of one (specifically S./20) with free nachos! Yes, if it sounds too good to be true, it is!

After we had our drinks, pointing each time to the menu picturing 4x1 (and had our small plate of nachos, which we had to ask again for), the server brought the bill of S./74. She and the street hawker argued that we had gotten the drinks from the regular menu at S./15 a pop. Yes, they were large drinks, but we asked for the special, so how would we know they weren't serving the right size? S./60 for drinks and S./14 for the free nachos. 

I refused to pay that, and would've only left S./20 on the table and walked away, but my husband offered $20, and they accepted. I have read there are similar issues with restaurants luring tourists with the three course dinner specials for S./20-25. So BEWARE OF SWINDLERS, especially this one, located on the way to the Hot Springs in Agua Calientes!!

A clean and quiet environment, the room was fine with a private bathroom, TV and good beds the only detail is that it's a little far away since it's on the way up.

A good place to be.

The Hostal is a good option for family groups traveling on a budget. The location is a little far from the town square and the train station, so you have to climb many stairs, but the good thing is that it is on a street where there are various restaurants, shops, even pharmacies, and this is near the thermal baths. The room was clean, the rooms were comfortable, and there was a TV with cable TV, although they lack the renovation of the bed sheets, which are a little worn out. The breakfast included in the room value is not varied, but nevertheless it is. The attention is somewhat confused, as there are different people at the reception, for which there is no single provision at the time of the tourist check-in, and there is something clear about it, which is why there is a lack of information in the area, which is a lack of information, because the customers who are in the lobby, who are in the lobby, who are in the lobby, and who are in the lobby, have a few questions, and who are concerned about the situation.

A good option at a reasonable price.

In double room and private sdb: Positive: Hot water Sdb rather clean Room spacious on the 4th floor Good pdj Used to lifts for the departure of the Machu Picchu, so pdj ready super early. Luggage storage A 5min walk from the train station and 5min walk from the bus station to Machu Picchu. Negatives: No bath mat (I think this is common in Peru...) No soundproofing Wi-Fi not accessible on the 4th floor so forced to go down to the 3rd to catch..Not practical especially since the hostel does not mention that it is not accessible on this floor... but we can go without it. So we recommend!

Good location, good quality price

When we left the hotel it was undergoing renovations, but the attention, it was very good, the other day we were kept the luggage, and we looked for it when the train left, not much like the location.
