The place is very spacious and suitable for a young and unpretentious audience. The rooms are sluggish and the cleaning is unwelcome. Breakfast is very scanty and with little choice. The price is higher than what is offered. The staff is very available.

Youth Hostel

A boarding school transformed into a hotel during the summer months: quite original. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is large. However, given the price, there was no toilet paper, the reception was average and the heat in the room was terrible (no air conditioning or the possibility of opening the window in large).

My husband and I  did our own 9 day self drive. Since Norway is expensive some of our accommodations I selected were hostels. Sogndal is actually quite a sizable town with  several restaurants and grocery stores. The hostel  was in a good location - easy to find and within walking distance to town. The room was very basic with two twin beds ( very comfortable) , two chairs also very comfortable and a sink so you could do some basic toiletries/grooming in your own room. Wifi was good. Sharing shower and toilets is no big deal. There was never a traffic jam. Parking was no problem. Staff was friendly and helpful at check-in time. Breakfast buffet was varied enough to appeal to a variety of tastes. We did not go away hungry. This is a good stop if you are traveling between Bergen and Geiranger.

budget friendly place to stay

We stayed for 1 night. It was enough for 2 adults and 3 year old kid.Tha room was spa is and clean.The hostel has a big kitchen with everything provided.We made our food in that kitchen and comfortably had our food outside the sitting area with beautiful sunny sky.Sogndal is a small city.Walking distance you have supermarket and nice places to walk around.I would recommend  this place to families and to anyone.I would come back to this place.our stay was with breakfast and thay was good as well.

Lovely Stay!

800 kroner for 2 beds- about the cheapest you'll find in these parts of Norway. Very basic accomkdations- 2 single sized beds (pretty comfy), 1 pillow each, couple of closets with about 25 wire shelves per person, sink in the room & a shared shower/toilet. There is a common room with a kettle & a shared kitchen. **Bonus-good simple style breakfast-coffee was good & my wife made a delicious waffle.

You don't always need all the bells & whistles

It's a school that rents rooms in the summer. It has a kitchen. Spacious rooms. Wi-Fi. Clean. Includes breakfast overlooking the fjord. Good value for money. Phone reservation. A check-in on the route.

Good choice in the southern part of the country.

The good:
The room: Large, clean, comfortable.
Kitchen: Fully equipped shred kitchen with place to sit and eat your meal.
Breakfast: Good variety of food.
Cleanliness: Very clean.
Comfort: Comfy beds, excellent private shower (you have to wait a few minutes for hot water)
Value for money: Great.
Location: Very good.
Stuff: Very friendly and helpful.
Free WiFi: Good bandwidth with strong signal.
Parking: Plenty and free.

The bad:
Some of the rooms are located on higher floors with no elevator.

Great value for the money

We were lucky enough to stay in the new building, the wooden one, not the brick one, in the garden, not along the national road, a large two-bedroom, free floor mattress for our 10-year-old daughter, shared shared spaces ms 3 showers and 3 bathrooms. Never waited outside the doors. Good soundproofing. 3 quiet nights, pti dej included. Clean, don't wait. We'll definitely be back.

That's great!

Since we couldn't find any other alternative in the area we slept in this hostel which also has private bathrooms. Prices are high for the type of structure but it's still comfortable and clean and the large room, as well as the bathroom. It's also quiet and the morning offers breakfast, although it's not the best. Free parking.
