Queen's Land Inn

We needed a basic, comfortable, and budget-friendly hotel, and this hotel was a good fit for us. We had 5 stays at this hotel, totaling 30 nights, from January to May, 2018. It is clean and comfortable. The standard rooms are adequately large for two people, and could be described as a Myanmar equivalent to Motel 6. For those preferring a larger room, deluxe and balcony rooms are available at additional cost. The staff is friendly and attentive to any needs we may ask about. Most speak only limited English. A phone app such as Google Translate may help. Breakfasts consist of either rice or noodles topped with an egg, bacon or sausage, coffee, juice, and, usually, fruit. Upon request, they would substitute toast in lieu of rice or noodles. With the limited menu, some may get tired of having the same thing every morning. The location is a little out of the way, about 1/2 km. from the nearest thoroughfare. Even so, we felt safe, and at a cost of $30 USD/night double occupancy for standard room, it was worth the slight inconvenience. We generally walked to and from the friends we were visiting, about a 20 minute walk away, and felt safe doing the walk, even when returning after dark. Some taxi drivers are not familiar with this hotel. If taking a taxi from the airport and the driver doesn't recognize it, tell him it is near Sky Man hotel on Pyay Road (pronounced like "pee road"), which every taxi driver knows. Once you're at Sky Man, take the very first right, where there's a red "Queen's Land Inn" sign, and go down that road about 1/2 km. The hotel is on the right, just past a restaurant and just before the road makes a right turn. For those desiring free Wi-Fi, you need to be aware it works best in the reception and restaurant areas. It often reaches to some of the rooms nearest and directly above the office area, but is not consistently reliable away from the office area. On occasion, maybe 2 or 3 times during the 30 nights we stayed, our room was not cleaned during the day. We do like staying here, and plan to do so again when we're again in town.
