Meeru Maldives Resort Island

This was our 6th visit to Meeru, our last visit was 2023, we were greeted with drums being played and because we were repeat visitor our name was held up and we were signed in quickly. This is the first time we had booked directly with Meeru we were given a good price when we thought it might be unaffordable. We e-mailed Meeru before hand with a room request, we requested a Water Front Villa between 520 and 526 which are nearer to the adult’s restaurant and bar. We were given 517, all the rooms are the same but it meant we had a little bit further to walk. In our opinion these are thew best villas on the island only a short walk from the ocean and a great view from the rooms. The island has changed since we last visited with three new restaurants Vilu, A-Mare and the Reef. We didn’t try the Reef with not being big fish eaters, the other two were excellent and a great addition to the Al Inclusive. It was nice to be recognised by several staff, in particular Ithaaf our waiter in the Maalan restaurant who was our waiter on the previous two occasions. Yovan in the Uthuru bar who we first met in 2008 and Ismail who cleaned our room meticulously during our stay. We also met Hasaan who now works in the Farivalhu restaurant who we also met in 2008, it’s always nice catching up with him and he always makes a fuss of us. All the staff are a credit to Meeru but these is particular are one of the reasons we return, it’s like meeting old friends. There was slight negative that families were being put in the 400 villas which we always thought were for adults only, this resulted in children going to the adults swimming pool. The staff were quick to inform them but could do with some help with letting the familied know on arrival and possibly putting signs up. In the past we have seen children walking around the island but never staying past the 300 villas we were always under the impression that the North end of the island was for adults only. We hope that Meeru keep the adults areas adults only we have grandchildren which we love but when we go away we like a little peace and quiet. This didn’t detract from our holiday though it is an always will be paradise and I would recommend anyone who is thinking of booking not to hesitate. Our first week we had one or two storms which meant the Turtle Explorer trip was cancelled twice. Fortunately, I managed to book it the second week. What a fantastic experience which I can highly recommend. It’s a 9-hour trip and we were lucky to see some Turtles and visit 3 deep reefs. On the way back a we managed to see some Dolphins that surrounded our boat. As always we met some lovely people while we were there, we are already looking to return, depending on the price, it seems to be getting more expensive each year. We have been lucky to have had a few Caribbean holidays including staying at Sandals, but nowhere comes close Meeru.
