Le Royal Hotels & Resorts

This was my fourth visit to Luxembourg, but I hadn't returned since 2012. I usually stay at The Sofitel Grand Ducal but Guns n' Roses booked out the hotel for two nights for their entire tour crew, so chose Le Royal and actually it was much better value and has a swimming pool and spa which the Grand Ducal unfortunately lacks (it only has a gym). I was in Luxembourg for the concert and met up with friends at the venue LuxExpo open air which is a tram ride away near the airport. The flight to Luxembourg is only 55 minutes from Heathrow or Stansted, actually more worth it and cheaper than inland UK flights, hotels are also a lot less expensive than in London. I got a really good deal at Le Royal, three nights for two via the Leading Hotels Of The World Leaders Club website. Buffet breakfast was included because I booked direct via their club site, it was an amazing breakfast, so much choice and excellent service. I got a quiet room end of corridor as requested, room 502. Very comfortable and spacious, lovely bathroom with a proper good size bathtub, I can't stand just a shower, I enjoy my bubble bath before bedtime! The staff were super friendly and helpful here and the highlight was the superb spa facilities, I love to swim and enjoy saunas and steam rooms and Le Royal is the only hotel in central Luxembourg city which has this. The airport tram stops just a short stroll down the road and city centre is easily walkable, it's so easy to get around Luxembourg anyway. The location is brilliant being right in the centre, one thing I do prefer at the Grand Ducal compared to Le Royal is the rooftop bar with the views and their decor which is more modern and stylish, unfortunately the decor at Le Royal is very dated and rather naff and I noticed other guests point this out, although their facilities are overall a lot better than at Grand Ducal. I will definitely stay in this hotel again, but will return to the Grand Ducal for food and cocktails as the bar at Le Royal doesn't have the same vibe and amazing views. I have to add that there is a lovely public garden park just behind Le Royal that is worth a walk around.
