Vang Vieng

The resort situated infront of Nam Song River and walking distance to Chang Cave over the red bridge, that was the reason why this resort is chosen in Vang Vieng. 

The upkeep of this chalet style resort just require some refurbishment, however we are not that particular as the basic facilities is available. Isolate yourself in the afternoon near the riverfront is the best time to unwind over there.

Unwind at Riverfront

It's a nice location, it's on the river, it's a beautiful view of the mountains and it's quiet. It's all worth it. In four days, the house hasn't been cleaned once. The houses are small, and everything inside and outside is like after a flood, only tin has been cleaned. The huge ant colony is quiet, it's good in the bathroom, not the room. The waiting time for breakfast is 40 minutes of fried eggs, and on the last day, it hasn't been cleaned at all.

The hotel consists of separate cottages, each with two rooms, entrances from opposite sides. The rooms are small, you can fall into the bed from the doorstep. But everything is clean, carefully, to serve no complaints. Free WF. The hotel stands on the river bank. On a high cliff are the shelters, a beautiful view. The territory is poorly cleaned, unlike the rooms. You can enter the car and park the car right next to the house.

We were there in November 2013 and we are satisfied. The location by the river is really beautiful, the view is breathtaking. We have to book a room with a view of the river. The pool was clean and pretty, the open restaurant very nice. The rooms are quite small, we barely had room for our backpacks. The bathroom was large, but it had a mini-light bulb and it was dark after sunset. The resort is in a garden that sits very beautiful. Unfortunately, during our stay, construction work was done next door.

The location is great, you can have small bungalows 50 meters from the river, at the foot of the mountains, beautiful pictures guaranteed. The resort must be about 15 years old to judge by the frame, but it's really lacking in maintenance, and that's a shame.

Location of choice but lack of maintenance

The hotel is pretty cute and well located, but on the third day, we had to leave the keys at the reception to clean the room (we should have refused!) and when we came home in the evening, there were 100 dollars missing in one bag and 400,000 kips missing in the other.

Arrived here having pre-booked and paid via an on-line system. Left 30 minutes later and moved into Jammee guesthouse up the road.

The whole place had an atmosphere of neglect and decay. The electrics in our cabin were distinctly dodgy, the mattress was made of concrete and the pillows were heading that way, and there was no Internet service at all.

The problem was that having paid on line there was no chance of us getting our money back. However that seemed a price worth paying to go somewhere nicer, and Jammee was fine for us, as well as being cheaper than the Vang Vieng "resort".

I would urge readers not under any circumstances to book this place on line. Go and see it before parting with money. Actually I don't think that it will be active much longer. The story locally is that after two recent floods the owners have lost heart, and the place is being run down.

For $10-15/night you really can't go wrong in this location but don't expect a brand new room.  They are rustic and could use a facelift but beds were clean and service great.  When our daughter hurt her foot they were right there helping and offering to drive us to the pharmacy.  

The location is brilliant right on the banks of the river with stunning views of the limestone mountains.  There are free bikes to use albeit only 1 speed and not in tip top condition.  It is nice in that it is on the edge of town but only a 5 minute bike ride to town so best of both worlds.  The property is nice with sitting areas around each bungalow but the grounds could be much better with more vegetation and less gravel.

Stunning location on river bank, great value

Resort is just outside the town, easy to reach by walk ing, or with bicycle (recomended).  Great place next to river and a few steps to the cliffs for trecking. If you like quietness (and a good night's sleep) don't mind simple but clean accommodation (bunglows have hote water) then go for it. USD 10/night/ room is good value for money. Breakfast not included. Restaurant is open late and closes early. But town with plenty of feeding options is not far. Staff is helpful, so management in general seems pretty hopeless (sad for this grat location). Would defintely stay there again.
