Hotel Alla Rocca

The location of this hotel was 5 mins from the bus station and 1 minute from the lake which is ideal for touring around the Lake and the restaurants, bars, shops and port were a few minutes walk at most away with a great variety of places to eat/drink. My 1st floor room was spacious and clean and had a sink unit and an electric fan. Yes the hotel and room was dated but I found that it did what it said on the tin! Breakfast was a variety of fruit, meats and was good. Owners and staff were friendly - the owner struggled with English but they had someone who spoke English well and I had no problems at all communicating. On the downside the traffic noise from the road directly beneath the rooms means you can’t really sleep well with the windows and shutters open but you get used to it and I did sleep well enough with them closed and even though it was hot and humid the electric fan did the job adequately with the windows closed. The shared bathroom was busy in a morning so you have to wait until it’s free but again, when you book you know this and you either know that a shared bathroom is a mixed bag or you book someone ensuite. The cleanliness of the shared bathroom was average - again it was dated, busy and old but it did the job for a 2 night stay. Overall I would say that the Albergo All Rocca is ideal for a cheap and cheerful short stay to use as a base to explore Lake Garda and is great for single travellers. You get what you pay for in general but I think when you read the reviews and look at the hotel online, you know what you will get for the price. For me, I slept well, ate well, showered and got about my business so this was a good stay and good experience at the Alla Rocca for me and for a short stay I would use this hotel again if necessary.
