Fern Rock Bed And Breakfast

This B&B is convenient for a ring of Kerry or Dingle visit.  The place is well kept and super quiet at night. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. The breakfast is fine dining! Our host was charming and helpful.  Great value here.

We stayed for 3 nights May 13th-16th in the family room upstairs.  Family of 4.
We did not opt for the breakfast so i cannot speak for that.  We did enjoy the dining area and very large,  comfortable living area.  Very well decorated and want to use the term adult,  as in  a place an adult would be comfortable just sitting and talking and unwinding from the day.  Ms Irma was a wonderful host,  very helpful and knowledgeable in giving us advice.  the highlight of our trip was the blackwater valley and gap of Dunlow drive and we would never have made that without her advice. (Thank you)  The room and beds were comfortable.  The selection of tea's and coffee that was available for guest use was very good.  Each morning i enjoyed just sitting in the dining area watching the bird feeder outside.  

This hotel is located between  Milltown and Killorglin (2 miles in either direction with food and gas)  VERY conveinent to both Ring of Kerry and Dingle.  

My only complaint is that we spent too much time out on the road and not enough sitting and relaxing in this wonderful house with Ms Irma.  (or if i would have known i would have brought my Golf Clubs and played a round with her!)

Ms Irma was Great... Suggestions on day trips were nice.. Dunloe gap a MUST see. Beds very comfortable. Beautiful home . Ring of kerry is beautiful.. Its a full day..Dingle and beehives were a fun day.

My sister and I stayed for 4 nights and we adored that place! The surrondings are beautiful and there are even wild rabbits in the garden outside the BnB. Our hosts were very kind and helped us planning our days, giving advice for nice pubs or how to avoid crowded parkings. The room was very clean and calm and the breakfast was delicious with multiple options to choose. A typical Irish BnB experience that you shouldn't miss!

Stayed here with Irma for two nights while driving the Ring of Kerry. 
Rooms are clean and tidy, but a little bit dated. Think of going to stay with your grandma, who you might not have seen in 20 years! Irma though, is charming, and a great host. Local knowledge is second to none, and she'll help you out with routes and suggestions on places to visit on your way. 
Really quiet location, ample car parking, great views of the mountains in the distance from the bedroom windows. 
One point to be aware of - if you're in a downstairs room, and there are guests upstairs, you'll know!

Entering, you feel a time warp to the 80s with the décor. The house/rooms are spotlessly clean. This felt like staying over with an older country relative we've never met before, where we felt the uncomfortable need to be on our very best behavior whenever we were on the premises. Proprietor Irma would frequently pop out of the woodwork, ready to check in to see how we were doing, and share suggestions for dining and lodging options for our jaunts.

ROOM: Beds were clean and comfy. Equipped with reading material and extra wool blankets. HINT: if you're staying in one of the front rooms on the first floor, you need to keep the shades down - otherwise everyone can see right in. Appreciated the free WIFI (password behind the room door, along with the breakfast menu options).

BATHROOM: Simple but fully equipped with toiletries, but we had brought our own. The bathroom in the twin room consists of a toilet and a shower, with the sink located in the room itself. Shower appears to be one of those instant hot water deals - not very hot and not much pressure.

GETTING THERE. Conveniently located right off the highway ("new road"). Google Maps and GPS were confused because of the construction of the new road but both ways got us there fine. Parking for guests is in the back, behind the house. Watch out for the wild bunnies - fun to watch them on the front lawn in the morning.

VERDICT: While old-fashioned BnBs very much not my thing, it was a warm bed in a clean room - all we needed, really - and the price was right for a last-minute, conveniently located, short term stay.

We had a comfortable stay here. You need a car if you want to go out in the evening as it is a bit out in the sticks. The hostess was very friendly and offered great advice about where to go. Clean and tidy and rooms cleaned and sheets changed everyday.

Comfortable B & B 

The location is good with easy access to the Ring of Kerry and the DIngle Peninsula.

The rooms are tiny. The bathrooms are so small that sitting on the toilet has your legs beneath the sink. The shower barely has enough room for an adult. Anyone plus size would not fit in it.

Be prepared for them to ask for payment in cash. Either pay online in advance or bring a lot of cash with you.

Parking is tight -- there are free spaces in the back but really only fits 3 cars and is tight enough to require a lot of manouvering to turn around and get out of it.

Be advised that even though the booking information didn't say anything, they require masks to be warn. Common areas are closed as well.

If you go in summer and it happens to be hot, there is no A/C and the windows in our room were tiny and offered no releif with an outide breeze

Decent Location, Tiny Rooms and Bathrooms

Out of 15 B&B stays in Ireland, this is the only one that was not excellent in all regards. She made us feel very uncomfortable when we were trying to set a time for breakfast. We mistakenly entered an off limits room and the man (husband?) was very rude and put out as he directed us to our room. We decided to skip breakfast and just leave as soon as we could. The only reason I don't rate this a one star is because she agreed to reduce the cost to compensate for no breakfast.
